Hi Folks, For those who don't know, four years ago, I co-founded Sustainable Progress and Equality Collective with my friend and colleague Joe Torreggiani. Happy 4th Anniversary, SPEC team!! 🎊 The incredible journey we've embarked upon since the inception of SPEC and its historical foundation, the Buffalo Project, a passion project of mine that began a little over fourteen years ago (you can learn more about the Buffalo Project here: https://lnkd.in/gTWe6C67) has been soul fulfilling. It's been a remarkable adventure of dedication, passion, and unwavering commitment to making a difference. So what is SPEC? 🌱 Our Mission: From day one, our mission has been clear: to create lasting positive change by nurturing a sense of equality, sustainability, and progress within our communities. We believe in the power of education, mentorship, and collective action to transform lives, and we've seen it happen right before our eyes. 🙌 Milestones Achieved: ✅ Mentored diverse individuals to acquire new skills and unlock their potential. ✅ Facilitated career growth and development for talented, underrepresented individuals. ✅ Fostered a diverse, inclusive, and supportive community of change-makers. ✅ Launched impactful initiatives, like the Journal of Engaged Research, to address pressing social, technological, and environmental issues. ✅ Collaborated with partners in the tech and sustainability space who share our vision and values. 🌍 Impact Beyond Measure: Our collective impact extends far beyond the numbers. It's in the stories of individuals who have found their voices, in the projects that are driving positive change, and in the hope we've ignited in the hearts of many. Check out some of our work: ✅ Our constantly evolving SPEC website here: https://specollective.org/ ✅ Our FY2024 partnership with HackClub here: https://lnkd.in/g_RM9Bwp ✅ You can also check out some of our FY2022-2023 partnership work with RAND's Center to Advance Racial Equity Policy (CAREP) here: https://lnkd.in/gAJ_bbrQ None of this would have been possible without our incredible team's dedication, our partners' unwavering support, and the trust and enthusiasm of all our community members. What Lies Ahead: As we look ahead to year five with excitement and determination, much work still needs to be done. We are more committed than ever to making a lasting impact on the world. Thank you for being a part of our story, and here's to many more years of growth, learning, and positive change! 🌟🌍🤝 #SPECollectiveAnniversary #FourYearsStrong #ImpactMakers

Learn how EGA member, Global Greengrants Fund has developed an ecosystemic approach to human rights philanthropy to address #ClimateChange. 🌍 "[A]n ecosystemic approach views the entire system of actors and organizations working for environmental justice as interconnected and interdependent rather than competitive." Participatory grantmaking is an example of an ecosystemic approach. Global Greengrants Fund has developed an efficient and scalable #ParticipatoryGrantmaking process, led by a network of activist advisors who decide on resource allocation. https://lnkd.in/eNJSsjZA I've been enjoying my cycling training for a summer ride while listening to some great podcasts (safely, of course!). One episode I highly recommend is from The Social Impact Show by Benevity from January 11th, "Becoming a Force for Good: Making Real Social Impact through Corporate Citizenship." Chris Jarvis from the RW Institute offers an inspiring perspective on CSR as a form of "nation building." He emphasizes that CSR isn't just about corporate funding; it's about providing employees with meaningful connections and experiences. This extends beyond charitable donations to include opportunities for employees to engage with their communities, find their purpose, and grow as individuals. It's a powerful approach that showcases the broader impact businesses can have by transforming employees into better versions of themselves and fostering a more engaged, motivated workforce that positively contributes to society. If you're interested in CSR and social sustainability, this episode is a must-listen. Let me know what you think! 🎉✨ Celebrating Over Three Years of Impact and Growth! 🎉✨ A little over three years ago, I co-founded Sustainable Progress and Equality Collective, a community-driven organization dedicated to meeting people where they are and empowering them to learn skills, build careers, and become leaders of sustainable social impact, with colleague and friend Joe Torreggiani. I am sharing a post reflecting on the incredible journey we've embarked upon since the inception of SPEC and its historical foundation, the Buffalo Project, a passion project that began a little over thirteen years ago (you can learn more about the Buffalo Project here: https://lnkd.in/gTWe6C67) It's been a remarkable adventure of dedication, passion, and unwavering commitment to making a difference. We believe in the power of education, mentorship, and collective action to transform lives, and we've seen it happen right before our eyes. 🙌 Milestones Achieved: In just three short years, SPEC has achieved milestones that we only dreamt of during our humble beginnings: ✅ Empowered diverse individuals to acquire new skills and unlock their potential. ✅ Facilitated career growth and development for talented, underrepresented individuals. ✅ Fostered a diverse, inclusive, and supportive community of change-makers. ✅ Launched impactful initiatives to address pressing social and environmental issues. ✅ Collaborated with partners who share our vision and values. 🌍 Impact Beyond Measure: Our collective impact extends far beyond the numbers. It's in the stories of individuals who have found their voices, in the projects that are driving positive change, and in the hope we've ignited in the hearts of many. 🌟 Exciting Announcement! 🌟 At Liberty & Justice, we're passionate about driving meaningful change and fostering equitable practices across industries. Today, we're delving into a crucial intersection: the fusion of strategic narratives and equitable philanthropy. In our ever-evolving landscape, organizations are recognizing the power of storytelling and strategic messaging to amplify their impact. But what happens when these narratives intersect with the principles of equitable philanthropy? 🔍 Here's what we're exploring: 1️⃣ Authenticity in Storytelling: Crafting narratives that authentically reflect the diverse voices and experiences within our communities is key. We're delving into how organizations can ensure their stories resonate with inclusivity and respect. 2️⃣ Impactful Giving Strategies: Equitable philanthropy goes beyond traditional models. It's about understanding the root causes of inequity and strategically directing resources to uplift Black, Indigenous, and Other People of Color communities. We're diving deep into innovative giving strategies that drive real change. 3️⃣ Building Partnerships for Change: Collaboration is at the heart of effective justice work. We're exploring how organizations can forge partnerships that amplify their impact, foster dialogue, and drive sustainable change. 💡 Why does this matter? In today's interconnected world, organizations have a unique opportunity and responsibility to use their influence for good. By weaving together strategic narratives and equitable philanthropy, we can create a more just and inclusive future for all. 🔗 Let's Connect!
