The Pew Charitable Trusts and IP3 have partnered over the past six months to ensure that the Health Impact Project’s Cross-Sector Toolkit for Health is sustained over time. The toolkit contains resources that help communities, agencies, and other organizations take action to improve public health. Together, we've transferred the entire toolkit library to a Community Commons Space—now the toolkit benefits from the powerful back-end database behind Community Commons. This new home features health impact assessments and supporting materials, resources for learning, and linkages to the Vital Conditions for Well-Being. Together, we can ensure that these key resources are sustained over time and support communities working on the ground to advance equitable well-being. Philadelphia has transformed greatly in the past 75 years. Here are a few highlights from the Pew Charitable Trust's recent comparison of 1950 to today. - A big increase in homeownership by Black residents and other people of color from only 8.9% of owner-occupied homes in 1950 to 58% today. - Increased diversity shifting from 80% white in 1950 to only 30% white today - Education level has shot up. The median number of years of schooling for Philadelphians 25 and older in 1950 was 9. Ahead of the Budget tomorrow 💼 CEOs from a Coalition of Children’s Charities - Paul Carberry (Action for Children) Lynn-Perry MBE (Barnardo's) Mark Russell (The Children's Society) Anna Feuchtwang (National Children's Bureau) Sir Peter Wanless (NSPCC)  – has these words for the Chancellor, Jeremy Hunt: “Our #children are hurting with millions living in poverty, and many struggling with #mentalhealth problems or waiting too long or unable to access the help and #support they desperately need. With the public sector already buckling under the financial strain, any further shrinking of services that children and #families rely on would be unconscionable in the current context.  In this week’s Budget, the Chancellor has a golden opportunity to recognise this reality and tackle the crisis in childhoods by #investing in our young people and their futures. He can do this by committing £2.6billion over the next four years - as recommended by the Independent Review of Children’s Social Care in England in 2022 – to rebuild children’s services. Being brave and bold in this way will ultimately save money while providing CRUCIAL EARLY HELP for families and preventing thousands more children from going into care." Right now, 4.2 million children in the UK are growing up in poverty and one million are living in extreme poverty.
