🎓🎓 Universities are fundamental #growth engines in the #knowledge economy. Recognizing that, GFCC | The Global Federation of Competitiveness Councils launched in 2016 the "University and Research Leadership Forum" (https://lnkd.in/dGzzSb2X). 💡⚙️ Innovation is the key driver for future growth. According to the OECD - OCDE, #innovation accounts for a minimum of 50% of the growth of its member countries (https://lnkd.in/dhDXeaTX). 🏛️🧬 It is essential for universities to fully engage in innovation. How do they do that? How can they better do that? The GFCC mapped 52 types of tools that universities use to engage in innovation and analyzed how those are evolving across 3 generations of innovation-oriented practices. Check the GFCC "Optimizing Innovation Alliances" report (https://lnkd.in/dynZa3mD). 📈🖥️ Further engaging in innovation should be a priority for the technology-enabled and impact-oriented university – or... as some GFCC colleagues called it, the "university 4.0". Universities are increasingly called to adapt, transform, and innovate (https://lnkd.in/dB9wgQYH) and leverage technology (https://lnkd.in/dsrJwww4) for impact on the various and diverse communities they serve (https://lnkd.in/dVEJUeWv). 🌎🚀 Continuing the journey, the GFCC University and Research Leadership Forum is now launching a new initiative focused on place-based innovation. This will build on the Forum's previous work and experiences such as the Birminghan Innovation Quarter, spearhed by Professor Aleks Subic & Aston University, the series of regional innovation summits in the US hosted by the Council on Competitiveness, and many, many examples in the GFCC network in 35+ countries. Stay tuned!
Exciting News! The University Research and Leadership Forum (URLF) is launching a groundbreaking initiative to decode the success of high-performing university-anchored innovation ecosystems and connect globally the assets in ecosystems linked to GFCC university members. 🌍 This initiative marks a significant step in fostering collaboration and innovation across universities worldwide. We're thrilled to embark on this journey and share insights that will drive progress and development in university-led ecosystems. Special thanks to Professor Aleks Subic (Vice-Chancellor and Chief Executive, Aston University) for chairing this new phase of the URLF. Your leadership and vision are instrumental in guiding this initiative forward. A heartfelt thank you to Aston University, University of California San Diego, Catholic University of Portugal, Universiti Teknologi Petronas, and the University of Auckland for being part of the Steering Committee of the URLF’s new phase. Your commitment and expertise are invaluable to the success of this initiative. Stay tuned for more updates as we advance this exciting endeavor! #Innovation #UniversityLeadership #GlobalCollaboration

Future Leader Fellowships | The flagship funding opportunity that supports the future leaders of research and innovation. The £110m Round 9 Future Leader Fellowships are a UK Research and Innovation initiative delivered through Innovate UK. These strategic investments support individuals with high-potential innovation ideas. Dr Sarah Dempsey, FLF at Peratech tells us about her experience, having previously received support for an Innovate UK KTP project (Knowledge Transfer Partnership). 📣 "I had previously completed a Knowledge Transfer Partnership (KTP), which gave me the skills and the confidence to approach the next stage in my career. A business hosted FLF seemed like an excellent opportunity for both me and for my host business, Peratech. With a KTP I got to manage a budget; with an FLF, you get to create your budget and then manage it. You have a lot of scope to use the funding in the way that benefits the project, yourself and your team. The support available to fellows through the FLF Development Network also provides opportunities to learn new skills, delivered by excellent coaches. A KTP is an excellent grounding for a Future Leaders Fellowship. However, the FLF requires that little bit more from you, and you gain a lot more in return. Through FLF I have four years of funding for my project, my development, and my team. I also have the opportunity to get involved in outreach, to shape policy and to inspire the next generation." 🌟 Completed my journey with the Global Governance Initiative last weekend with an enriching Liberal Arts Masterclas. It's been a bittersweet farewell to an incredible experience. 🚀 As an Impact Fellow at GGI, I had the privilege of learning alongside a diverse group, from doctors to financial experts, journalists to professors. Here's what stood out: 1️⃣ Broadened my horizons at the intersection of business, management, leadership, tech, finance, and social sciences. For a 9 classes long journey where each class takes 10 hours over two days, time and content is a scarce resource . Yet, the beauty of the programme lies in the curriculum design , which is curated not from a strictly academic standpoint but is rather a practical guide for a management practitioner. 2️⃣ Immersive learning through case studies and exciting projects, including consulting-style white papers and startup simulations. As unlikely as it sounds - the fellowship truly pushes one to put new hats each week; solving a cab requirement for an airport case one week to simulating a startup next , GGI managed to pack it all in an exciting journey . 3️⃣ A supportive learning ecosystem where everyone, regardless of background, had access to essential knowledge. 4️⃣ Fascinating guest lectures on real-life scenarios, making learning tangible and enjoyable ~ think a communications lecture from an international thought leader on communication strategy to an ethics lecture from a practicing bureaucrat. 5️⃣ The sense of community that made this journey truly exceptional. #GGI #LearningJourney #DiverseCommunity
What a weekend it was with a wrap-up of our flagship GGI Liberal Arts Masterclass! GGIians attended live Masterclasses with our cofounder (Shatakshi Sharma, Naman Shrivastava) and guest speaker Karn Satyarthi learning fundamentals and advanced concepts of managing power, game theory, statistics, philosophy, and ethics- all through case method! GGI Liberal Arts masterclass is a special addition to our curriculum making sure our professionals become future responsible leaders of business and society. At the end of the day, we are about building a kind and collaborative #community of purposeful leaders who will transform this world into a better place through tech, business, and ethical product tools combined. #ggi #ggibound
