As an Engineering leader, your single most crucial task on the job is keeping the Spaceship Flying. And Spaceship's strongest and weakest point is the crew. The crew that is able to create Engineering value, which is quite similar to fitness goals: Set an ambitious goal. Build daily healthy habits of ceremonies that lead towards your goals. Keep your steps measurable. Celebrate each success at the time. And most important, back each other up and grow together as a team. (On the photo is our current Engineering KPI corner:) What's your best Engineering KPI?

If you love teamwork then you will love construction. Because in construction you can’t do everything by yourself. You can do your part but to see everything come together it really takes a team. There are so many different parts that it’s impossible for one person to do it all. That’s why teamwork is key to success in construction. That’s why construction is not for everyone, because to truly understand and believe in teamwork it takes special people.

🌟 Celebrating Team Effort and Resilience! 🌟 I cannot help but be so impressed, over the past couple of weeks I have been onsite, supporting the assembly and testing of the drill system. Standing here today, and yes I am working the holiday weekend, witnessing the system's evolution, I am in awe of what a small team on huge scope, have accomplished together. Yes, there are ongoing hurdles, and yes, there's still hard work ahead, but the effort expended is on full display - well nearly as it s still hidden behind layers of scaffold, and its nothing short of remarkable, in my eyes anyway. While our scope may be just a part of a much larger engineering project, the impact of their efforts cannot be understated. Despite the enormity of the task, the team has shown that with collaboration and perseverance, even the most daunting challenges can be overcome. Beyond the massive steel structures and complex logistics lies the heart of their achievement—the relentless effort and dedication of our team members. Each one of you has contributed to making this endeavor a success, and for that, I extend my heartfelt appreciation. Let's continue to push boundaries, tackle challenges head-on, and strive for excellence in everything we do. Together, we've proven that no task is insurmountable when we work as a united force. Well done, team! Your accomplishments are truly impressive and serve as a testament to our collective strength and capability.

Shout out to Amy Climer, Ph.D., CSP! Amy’s Climer Cards were a great way to get employees of Consolidated Construction to think about an obstacle their team has faced. We then explored ways to train as a team to overcome them! Now, it's your turn: What obstacle is your team facing? Identifying the biggest hurdle is the first step to clearing it.

What have faulty cars got to do with relationships that have gone awry? With both you have to identify where the fault lies and that can take quite a lot of detective work, examining each part, slowly and methodically. Sometimes, one area may lead to a problem in another area. But it’s definitely a process of elimination. Each mechanic may have a different view as to what the problem is, and that can cause conflict, with one blaming the other for the fault. And instead of working as a team, and working together they each feel they are right, but the fault still persists. At other times it may be that one part is repaired, but there is still a problem. The hope is that work is carried out on each without being past repair. As in the image of the vehicle above. But, just like a vehicle that requires regular maintenance, so does a relationship to keep it in good condition. What are your thoughts ?
