Last month I celebrated my 6 year anniversary at Epic Games. Today, is my last day. To say I am a little emotional today is an understatement. I've been a gamer my whole life, but I never thought I'd actually work in the games industry. If you'd have told me earlier in my career that I'd have that anniversary at a place like Epic I would just have laughed at you. Epic has been the pinnacle of technical excellence in gaming for decades at this point. There's nothing that the Epic team can't accomplish when they're focused on a goal, ideally the more impossible seeming the better. I'm very proud of what we've accomplished over the years and truly believe that Epic will continue to be the leader in our industry for decades to come. Fortnite is a juggernaut, but it doesn't exist in a vacuum -- it's only successful because of the talent and dedication of an amazing team who care deeply. It was an honor to be a part of it. I'll always have a lot of love for Epic, but it's time for me to move on and stretch myself in new ways again at a much earlier stage company. I'm excited to share more about that soon. I took a selfie in the hallway outside of the room where my desk is at Epic HQ on my first day. I took it again today just to see the comparison. The smile was a little harder to summon today, and the years are evident on me at least, but the llama is looking as good as ever.

This is a great opportunity to work with the best minds in cloud economics on a new SaaS product that’s not like all the others.

Today Epic announced a big layoff. While I was not affected, there are a ton of truly amazing people who were and will be looking for new roles as a result. If you're looking for passionate and talented folks who have proven that they can work on the largest games in the world and deliver massive impact, you should try to grab these folks while you can. To the many friends and colleagues who I don't get to work with anymore, know that my door is open if you ever want to talk and please let me know if I can help you in your search for something new.
