IMAX is delighted to introduce the IMAX Excellence Awards, recognizing the gold standard in commercial excellence amongst its theater partners and the added value they bring to the IMAX Global network day in, day out. Running at a regional level with separate programs operating in N. America, China, LATAM, EMEA & APAC, the award program aims to identify and reward success in the following categories; 'Best Performing IMAX Theatre' and 'Best Local Marketing Campaign by an Exhibitor'. Launching on July 1st 2024 and running for 12 months, this marks the first time IMAX has given awards in recognition of commercial performance at a theatre level.

Wanda Film and IMAX are expanding our strategic partnership with a sweeping agreement spanning technology and content. The agreement will secure and fortify Wanda Film’s leading IMAX footprint — the largest IMAX circuit in China. Wanda Film will upgrade 61 of its top performing locations to state-of-the-art IMAX with Laser technology, including top-grossing IMAX locations in Tier 1 cities Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou, and Shenzhen. The duo will also explore opportunities to collaborate on exclusive awe-inspiring content and experiences across documentaries, music, gaming, and sports. To learn more about the deal, read below:

NBA China and IMAX China have teamed up to bring the 2024 NBA Finals live to select IMAX locations across Hong Kong and Taiwan, providing NBA fans with an immersive, one-of-a-kind viewing experience. The response from NBA fans in China has been massive – tickets to the games live in IMAX sold out in a matter of hours. The partnership marks the first time IMAX China has delivered a live sports experience to its audiences and comes as we continue to diversify our global content portfolio across awe-inspiring experiences — from sports leagues to gaming franchises to live global events. Earlier today at the 2024 Cannes Film Festival, IMAX CEO Rich Gelfond announced the Company’s unprecedented Filmed for IMAX slate for 2025. It marks the biggest offering of Filmed for IMAX releases ever in a single calendar year — more than double any previous year — as filmmakers and studios from Hollywood and international territories increasingly create for the IMAX platform. The slate includes at least 14 releases currently shooting with IMAX film or IMAX-certified digital cameras. To learn more, read below.

In producing “The Blue Angels”, an upcoming IMAX Documentary, we worked with an extraordinary group of former Angels pilots who lead The Blue Angels Foundation , a national non-profit organization supporting wounded veterans. These men and women — several of whom served as technical consultants on the documentary and as stunt pilots for “Top Gun: Maverick” — volunteer their time to raise funds for a host of critical veterans’ services, from PTSD counseling to transitional housing to service animals.   With help from producer Glen Powell and our friends at Bad Robot, we used footage shot for “The Blue Angels” to create a public service announcement for the Foundation, which will run in advance of the film across participating theatres nationwide starting May 17. IMAX is expanding in France – we’ve just announced a new deal with French exhibition company MEGARAMA Cinemas for three new theatres. The new agreement doubles IMAX’s footprint with the Paris-based exhibitor in France and marks the second deal in just over a year for the two companies. To learn more about the deal, read below:
