At Understanding Risk ImageCat convened a session titled Symphony of Tradition and Innovation: Orchestrating Global Resilience in Diverse Communities. This session was moderated by Ronald Eguchi from ImageCat and the panelists included Helen Crowley from the Global Earthquake Model Foundation, Shunichi Koshimura from Tohoku University, Laurie Johnson from Laurie John Consulting and Research, and Shubharoop Ghosh from ImageCat. The panelists reflected upon the key question if communities today are in a position to use various advanced technologies like AI, digital twins, and earth observation to effectively make decisions. Like jazz music connects tradition and innovation, the panel immersed the audience in different languages of disaster risk to help understand and assimilate various approaches to building resilience.
