More often than not, we are given to see that the Hospitals across India take pride in quantifying strength as Hospital beds BUT Not they own the Patients!! The Hospitals often quantify number of Beds as added and owns which often denote how large the Hospitals are. However, seldom we hear as to how many human lives they have made healthier, how many patients the Hospitals continue to interact after they have been discharged. Because, Corporate Hospitals is a business-entity concept and Beds are muscular presentation to their Investors (and to the Governments too), thus Patient-care gets priority number 2. Healthcare company aims only commerce and seldom follow compassionate ethical clinical care. For them, it's an another business. #healthcare #patientcare #hospitals #governmentaffairs

With the recent ruling by the Supreme Court impacting expensive healthcare, it's time to prioritize low-cost healthcare units in India. As a large and growing country where more than 80 percent of the population is fighting a daily battle to survive, it's crucial to focus on the basic healthcare needs of the common man. This reaffirms our belief that we are on the right path with Doctors Hospital. #healthcare #India #affordablehealthcare

According to the guidelines, the essential norm for Ayush hospitals is one hospital bed per 5,000 population, while the desirable norm is one bed per 2,000 population. Currently, there are 3,844 Ayush hospitals run by central and state governments across India, with a total bed strength of 60,943. To achieve the essential number of beds, the guidelines suggest utilizing public health systems such as medical colleges, district hospitals, and Ayush hospitals of various bed capacities. By adhering to these guidelines, Ayush hospitals can ensure accessible, comprehensive, and effective healthcare services, contributing to the overall well-being of the nation. There will be no end to the business of healthcare and food. Interesting thought and a valid one Said by the man who taught me costing For a moment it seemed like a startup idea. I wonder if hospital costing could become a business by itself #vvramanwrites #startup #idea #business #healthcare #activitybasedcosting #india #health
The wheels could soon be set in motion to bring about a dramatic change in India’s healthcare scenario. After the honourable Supreme Court of India raised concerns in April about the glaring gap in the costs of treatment between government and private healthcare providers, the pressure is on to put in place some kind of standardised cost regime. This is already well past the time frame the SC had laid out for this to come about, so I do expect the heat to start rising in this area soon. Of course, this is an extremely complex scenario given that health is a state subject and the central government’s role is largely to define guidelines and provide direction. There is sure to be a lot of resistance from private healthcare providers given the potential financial impact too. That being said, considering that the SC has reiterated that healthcare is a fundamental right and given our population, there will never be a lack of patients seeking care. However, even if the procedural issues are ironed out and assuming that the intent is there, it will still not be easy for healthcare providers to define the applicable range of rates for various treatments. The problem is that most do not really know what the “real” costs of various treatments and procedures are. Most hospitals have never looked at their costing in the required level of detail. Most seem to have a less than adequate cost model so far. And the industry knows that this is a problem. The Association of Healthcare Providers, a representative body of small and medium hospitals has sought the right to intervene in the SC on this issue. They have been making the case that the industry needs to adopt more scientific procedures to nail down the costs more clearly and completely as a first step. I would suggest that they consider Activity Based Costing if this is what they are looking to achieve. #Healthcare #ActivityBasedCosting #StandardCosts #HealthcareIndia
