if LLMs are capable of providing human-level scientific feedback on research papers, the future of peer review will be continuous, open review. scientific peer review should no longer be a static point in time at the time of publication, but rather a dynamic, continuous process that evolves over time. LLMs combined with human feedback and curation will provide up-to-minute reviews/feedback based on the latest data and methodologies. the reader can see a history of a paper's reception and evolution. eLife and arXiv feel like the orgs to build this.

Interesting to see the first LLM artifacts making it through the peer-review cycle --> The screenshot is taken from this article https://lnkd.in/dF5WVXwy Also, I am not necessarily convinced that the whole research must be discredited due to this, but I actually didn't take the time to read it in full. If you are interested in finding out more about the use of LLMs for scientific articles, this recent paper goes in depth about it: https://lnkd.in/dmrZ_nPA

Bibliographic coupling is when two documents cite a common third document. It's often used to measure the similarity between documents. Bibliographic coupling is the opposite of co-citation. Co-citation occurs when two documents receive a citation from the same third document. Bibliographic coupling was introduced by Kessler in the 1960s. It was originally described as a method for grouping technical and scientific documents. It can help facilitate scientific information provision and document retrieval. Bibliographic coupling is an indication that the two works are likely to treat a related subject matter. It's frequently used as a measure of similarity among documents #phd #research #bibliographic_coupling
