A key priority for the UK’s new government must be housing. And the Government must invest not in social housing but in ‘sociable’ housing. This must be part of a far reaching ‘Place Shaping’ strategy where we do not just build homes, but SEED places to build communities that are socially, culturally, environmentally and economically sustainable. A critical part of this is to weave homes into an activated ground level public realm that brings together shopping, working, entertainment, learning, culture, hospitality and healthcare And in so doing, point the way forward for the future of the high street and our local communities. Absolutely - something we in Bristol are particularly focussing on through the City Centre Development and Delivery Plan

and whilst i understand the need for students to have somewhere to live and universities to have students , communities do not need a predominace of student flats instead of community housing that supports the communities thatt already live in the areas . Seeding new communities is great , but dont forget the ones that exisit already , its takes years/ decades to build community !
