🎙️#PODCAST: Why you should care about Brazil's Cerrado The Cerrado is the second-largest biome in Latin America and the most biodiverse savanna in the world. Yet it has lost half its native vegetation to agriculture – and the pace of conversion is accelerating. Urgent action is needed to balance production with protection, in a way that delivers gains for climate, nature, and people, a new report commissioned by the World Economic Forum finds. Excited to share how my #phdresearch aligns with the #EUGreenDeal goals! I'm investigating the impact of adopting more #sustainable and #diverse #diet for dairy cows on #milk quality throughout the entire #lactation period. Introducing a botanically diverse pasture diet like multispecies sward aims to reduce chemical nitrogen usage, supporting the EU Green Deal's 2030 targets to cut fertilizer use by 20% and reduce nutrient losses by 50%, while also enhancing #biodiversity in agriculture. However, how does that translate to milk, and #dairyproducts quality? If you are interested to know more, please listen to the podcast 'Growing better milk' https://lnkd.in/eqAUNyvM Thanks to VistaMilk SFI Research Centre, Laura Gómez Gómez-Mascaraque, Alan Kelly, brendan horan, Tom O'Callaghan, Gaetan Drouin, John Tobin and Jonathan Magan for their invaluable support in making this research possible. #sustainabledairy #podcastinsights
*Our latest podcast is live* This podcast features Renata Kostovska and highlights her research on using multi sward species for grazing dairy cows. Renata said: “What we’re seeing in our studies shows that the mix of indigenous Irish plants in our multi-species pastures can help us combat climate change and improve our environmental performance." Hello Everyone ! I am so excited to finally publish this guest special of the ENVCast. Last week I had the honour to host UKs leading environmentalists on my podcast. It was a pleasure to discuss all things Biodiversity Net Gain with Julia Baker (Technical Director for Nature Services at Mott MacDonald) and Tom Butterworth (Head of Ecology at WSP). It was a pleasure to learn from Tom and Julia and talk to them about Biodiversity Net Gain. We had a very insightful discussion on BNG, the Defra metric, hopes and aspirations for BNG and importance of BNG across the globe. The main takeaway for me, from this session was that BNG is already spreading and many countries are using the Defra metric as a foundation. It was really interesting to learn about this and understand how other countries are integrating BNG. Also tune in to hear about Julia and Tom's sustainability tips :) For the full episode please click on the link below: https://lnkd.in/dNnWidEG Or tune into your favourite listening platforms and just search for the ENVCast :) (Don't forget to share and leave a review) I hope you all enjoy this excellent discussion. Host of the Deep Seed podcast 🎙️Regenerative Food Systems | Agroecology | Sustainable Diets | Rewilding & Biodiversity 🌿
Why should we Eat More Trees? 🌳 They store carbon, regulate temperatures are water cycles, improve soil health, prevent erosion, create windbreaks, offer habitat for wildlife, and so much more! And guess what? They can also produce copious amounts of food! 🌰 In the latest episode of the Deep Seed podcast, Louis De Jaeger explains why we should transition toward a food system that includes more tree crops. It could play a huge role in climate change mitigation and adaptation, farmer's livelihoods, biodiversity & human health. If you enjoyed this conversation, please follow the Deep Seed & Eat More Trees. Much love, Raphaël

An honour to be a guest on the first episode of CACEIS new ‘Biodiversity Briefing’ series after the huge success their climate briefing podcast series was! 👏🏼 Pat Sharman and I had a great conversation discussing the biodiversity crisis, what’s causing it and the importance of people realising the crucial role the natural world has in our lives, survival. • 80% of the worlds forests have been irreparably damaged • 60-70% of Europes soil has been degraded by unsustainable agricultural management • Over 69% of the worlds biodiversity has declined since 1970 • 55% of global GDP is dependent on a healthy natural world It was also a privilege to share Dr. Wallace J. Nichols work on blue mind science and neuro-conservation which I believe are crucial topics in re-connecting people back to nature in the midst of a climate & biodiversity emergency. Everyday we have the opportunity to make a difference with access to a huge amount of information about what’s causing biodiversity to decline and the threat it poses on people’s lives all around the world, so please do take the time to listen and do your own research on these hugely important topics that the Biodiversity Briefing will discuss 🔥 #biodiversity #climatecrisis #podcastguest
Hi everyone. We’ve just started our second podcast series following ‘The Climate Briefing’ we recorded last year. This new podcast series is called ‘The Biodiversity Briefing’ and will dig deeper into biodiversity and nature-related risks to provide anyone in the financial services industry with some additional insight into this important subject. In this first episode to set the scene, I was really chuffed to host the amazing and talented Mattea Pauc from Re-Educating Earthlings, who provides some great insight into the topic of biodiversity loss, blue mind science and neuroconservation. My passion for education, hearing from the industry that managing nature-related risks is growing in importance and reading that the World Economic Forum ranks biodiversity loss and ecosystem collapse as one of the top five threats humanity will face over the next ten years was enough for me to kick-start this new podcast series. Closer to home, it was shocking to hear reports recently that 90% of England’s river habitats are impacted by sewage and farming pollution – the fragility of our ecosystems is much closer to us all than we realise. Developing insight like these podcasts is also part of our corporate social responsibility purpose at CACEIS to help our clients navigate climate and nature-related risks. I hope you enjoy the podcast, which you can access on Spotify here https://lnkd.in/eMgAetH5 #biodiversity #sustainability #governance
