Tri-Cornered Sustainability: Environmental, Social, and Economic Dimensions Understanding the interconnectedness of environmental, social, and economic factors and how they form the backbone of true sustainability. Each dimension is vital, and neglecting one can undermine our efforts to achieve a sustainable future. 2. The Importance of Sustainable Fashion: It's very much about systemic change in production, supply chains, and consumption patterns. 3. Building Local Relationships for Impactful Change Global change starts with local action. Catalyzing on sustainable initiatives resonates on a global scale. 4. Don't neglect the neighborhood Level Simple initiatives like community gardens, local recycling programs, and neighborhood clean-ups can have a ripple effect, inspiring broader environmental stewardship. 5. The Hidden Danger of Polyester Clothing Did you know that polyester clothing poses a hidden danger to our environment? 6. Unknown Superfund Sites Many of us are unaware of the hazardous waste sites known as Superfund sites scattered across the country. The AtlasZero podcast has now published the first 10 episodes. 🎉 We are going to combine all the interviews in one knowledge bundle. 👇 Sustainability reporting right now is just overwhelming. 🤯 Large companies are confronted with various different regulations to follow, and no one has done this before. But after talking to some sustainability experts and companies that are already advanced with their reporting journey, it doesn't seem too difficult any more. Therefore, we will bundle all the knowledge and put it together in one place. I will add a link in the comments. 👇 Here is a quick overview of what this includes so far: I talked to Dr. Sebastian Raum from Retarus, Michael Sharaga from the FUCHS Group, Jürgen Sabelhaus from Bültel Worldwide Fashion GmbH, Maarten de Haan from Kraft Heinz, and they all had some great learnings to share. The episodes with Jens from Karomia and Verneri from Sustashift were super helpful for any company that has to so a #DoubleMaterialityAnalysis. With Adrian from Senken, I discussed the role of carbon credits in the CSRD and from Phillip who works at Code Gaia I learned about the requirements of sustainability manager. In addition, I learned everything I needed to know about #CBAM from Marius founder of kolum.earth and Gabriel the founder of Cbamboo. What other topics should I include? Who else should I interview to get the best #CSRD knowledge bundle? #BuildInPublic #sustainabilityreporting

This Valentine’s Day post is about a love story between my two passions – renewable energy and preowned clothing! If you know me personally, you most likely know that I buy 99% of my clothing preowned. That is one of the reasons why I found this week's Rethink Retail podcast so interesting. Kirat Anand interviews Logan Duran of Tapestry and my colleague Josh Levy in an insightful podcast discussing the ways Pivot Energy is supporting Tapestry's decarbonization efforts through a truly impactful 33 MW REC purchase agreement. Aside from the innovative agreement between our teams, I loved hearing more about other efforts from the Tapestry team, like like partnering with resale site ThredUp (my favorite shopping site) for their kate spade new york brand, and reselling or repurposing materials with Coach (Re)Loved. As someone deeply passionate about renewable energy and a proud advocate for used and upcycled clothing, this partnership feels like the perfect synergy of my worlds colliding! Give it a listen! 🌍 #Sustainability #RenewableEnergy #Partnership #CircularEconomy
Pivot Energy's Director of Business Development, Josh Levy, joined Logan T Duran, Tapestry's VP of ESG Strategy, and host Kirat Anand on the RETHINK Retail podcast to discuss Pivot's and Tapestry's recent partnership and how the fashion industry can be proactive in sustainability efforts with innovative decarbonization strategies. New Innovation Forum podcast – The fabric of regulatory change in the apparel sector. This week: Kaley Roshitsh, editorial director at Cascale (formerly the Sustainable Apparel Coalition), talks with me about incoming regulation that companies in the apparel sector should be looking out for. We discuss the resulting challenges and opportunities, and what the future trends in the apparel sector might be, including from the rise and rise of regenerative agriculture. Plus: Science Based Targets initiative faces a backlash following its change of policy on carbon credit offsetting for scope 3 emissions; Earthwatch Institute alleges some Better Cotton certified crop links with land grabbing and illegal land use change in Brazil; and, the Global Wind Energy Council (GWEC) says global wind power capacity is accelerating, but not yet fast enough to meet COP28 goals, in the news digest.

Suppose you’re leading a movement, seeking systems change, feeling challenged with scaling the sustainability solutions you’ve been piloting, or wondering how to get the money to fund your world-changing solution. In that case, this one’s for you. In this episode, Lewis Perkins, President of Apparel Impact Institute, essentially leads a masterclass on how sustainability in the industry has evolved and where it’s headed, and… how to tackle all those things I just mentioned. When Lewis and I first met +/- 8 years ago at a Sustainable Brands conference, he was helping to lead the charge in the development of Fashion Positive, launched at the Cradle to Cradle Products Innovation Institute. Since then, he’s continued to drive positive change and lead the charge in identifying, funding, and measuring the impact of sector decarbonization solutions across the entire apparel industry. Needless to say, he’s got a lot on his plate, so I’m thankful 🙏 that Lewis took time for this insightful interview because there’s a lot to unpack and dive into here. In this jam-packed conversation, we covered: - Circularity/ Redesigning Systems - Financing solutions, specifically the concept of catalytic capital - Unlocking the Trillion-Dollar Fashion Decarbonisation Opportunity - The importance of Supplier Engagement - The pivot point that drew him into the impact space - The importance of getting out of the pilot phase cycle, and moving into the era of scale and permanence, - Convincing and winning over investors, and so much more. I know you’ll enjoy this episode as much as I did, and if you’re in the apparel industry, it’s a must-listen (and a must-share). Thanks for tuning in! You can find the show on YouTube, Spotify, Apple Podcasts, and on The Underswell website.
