Recently, the Indian Parliament passed the Digital Personal #DataProtection Act, completing a 5-year journey to introduce comprehensive #dataprivacy legislation for India. As the Modi 3.0 starts major reforms and legislation work starts proceeding by working on important laws and acts . one of them is Digital personal Data protection act 2023 , the law is yet to be implemented. At least 25 rules are required to be finalized to set the counter of the overall privacy framework.

The Digital Personal Data Protection Act,2023. India enacted its new privacy law—the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 (DPDP Act) on August11,2023. The law will come into effect on a date to be decided by the central government, which is authorized to determine different dates. APPLICABILITY: The DPDP Act applies to all data, whether originally online or offline and later digitized, in India for the purpose of provision of goods and services. NOT APPLICABLE Any Data processed by an individual for any personal or domestic purpose or any personal data which is publicly available. KEY TERMS: u DATA PRINCIPAL: Any person to whom the personal data relates. If the person is child, it includes its parents or lawful guardian and person with disability, includes her lawful guardian, acting on her behalf. u DATA FIDUCIARY: Any person who is alone or in conjunction with other persons determines the purpose and means of processing of personal data. u CONSENT MANAGER: A person registered with the Board who represents on behalf of Data principal and takes the action on behalf of data principal at the time of granting, managing, reviewing and revoking consent. #dataprotection #digitaldata #indianlaw
