The need for international partnerships and cross-border teamwork has proven crucial to successful research and development in life sciences. But, how exactly does global collaboration impact drug development? We’ve had a look at some of the key areas where global collaboration is making a key difference in the development of new treatments and medicines in life sciences: 🧬 Enhanced clinical trials: Conducting clinical trials on a global scale provides access to a broader and more diverse patient population. This diversity helps develop treatments that are effective across different genetic backgrounds and demographics, ultimately leading to more inclusive and universally applicable therapies. 🤝 Growth of knowledge: International partnerships enable the sharing of knowledge and best practices across borders. By learning from each other’s successes and challenges, organisations can avoid common pitfalls, streamline processes, and adopt innovative approaches that have been proven effective elsewhere. 📉 Reduced costs and risks: By sharing financial and logistical burdens, companies can undertake more ambitious projects without bearing the full weight of potential failures alone. This collaborative approach makes it feasible to explore high-risk, high-reward research avenues. With global collaboration on the rise in our industry, where do you think this will have the biggest impact? Leave your thoughts in the comments below and stay tuned for a poll coming to our page soon! #lifesciences #globalcollaboration #iPharmGxP

🔍 How do multinational enterprises search for and manage distant collaboration with academia? How do social ties and personal linkages influence these processeses? What is the role of corporate strategies? These are some of the questions raised by Claudio Fassio in today’s Research Talk. 💬 After his presentation on “Global search for science: A case study of AstraZeneca”, Claudio engaged in a Q&A session discussing how best to operationalise and measure the mechanisms under consideration, the benefits of including a network evolution analysis, and managerial implications of such research. 🙏 Thank you, Claudio, for an interesting dive into cross-sectoral collaboration dynamics! And thanks to our attendees for their insightful comments and contributions! #CrossSectoralCollaboration #Innovation

Having spoken to another business owner this week who specialises in Life Sciences and Clinical Development, it's evident that the market conditions of 2023 have brought about challenges within our industry. Whether you're a smaller biotech start-up, a niche CRO, or a global development organization, the reverberations of reduced investment channels in early-stage research have been universally felt. Yet, amid these challenges, there are always some silver linings that are illuminating our path forward. There's are glimmers of momentum gaining traction both in the USA and Europe – a promising sign that our industry's resilience remains.. The momentum of increasing requirements signifies a renewed appetite for innovation and advancement. Trusted Advisor for Global Executive Management, Global Project Management, Global Scientific & Global Medical Directors | Own Career: Co-developer of Fiasp®, NovoEight®, Esperoct® & Sogroya® | CEO
Finalising a highly diverse scientific- and medical week by attending an intriguing fireside chat with Dr. Robert Langer. Having my grounds profoundly in global pharma, it was highly interesting listening to the vast perspectives of current and coming biotech, perspectives of science, leadership, when to take chances, cultural aspects of failures and what is perceived as the most desirable mindset for succeeding in bringing innovative biotech to impactful contributions on a global scale. To the many early stage biotech founders and early stage CEOs, whom were also attending and eager to harvest important points on how to build their companies, his take home message was very clear: “Hire people whom will go through walls to get things done and whom are NICE”. I applaud this statement, as it so impactful translates into every single aspect of an organisation, into leadership impact, and into teamwork. A fireside chat with nostalgic strings to my own early scientific days, to current clients and as an inspiring prelude of what is to come.
