All markets go in cycles but the art market is especially prone to "rotation" where attention, bidding and buying moves from one group of artists to another. Right now, the art market is in stuck in a a demand drought. The former hot market around new artists , many of them young, has run its course and the expected interest in high-value historical art has not yet established itself as a trend. While we wait, my friends at ARTDAI pulled some data for 108 aritsts who did not have auction sales before 2020 and had at least one work achieve more than $250,000 at auction. The results were fascinating. https://lnkd.in/eKjepq28

The Pose - A guest curation by Hamilton-Selway Fine Art. Figurative art, a significant presence in the realm of artistic expression, traces its roots back to the earliest cave drawings, notably exemplified in the timeless murals of Chauvet Cave in France. Yet, amidst this enduring tradition, there emerges a distinctive focus on “The Pose,” a nuanced facet that artists have tirelessly honed and refined throughout the years of artistic evolution. Shifting away from the rigidity characteristic of 18th and 19th-century portraiture, a palpable transformation takes shape. Figures, once confined to static representations, now burst forth with dynamic vitality. The artistic trajectory pivots away from stagnation, paving the way for a newfound appreciation of dance-like movements, genuine reactions, and captivating poses. “The Pose” encapsulates a curated selection of works that serve as a testament to the artist’s mastery in portraying movement and a profound sense of expressiveness. In this exploration, the static gives way to the dynamic, and puts the viewer into the realm of kinetic artistry. View: https://lnkd.in/eXx2pBNT #artcurators #artcuration #artcollectors #artgalleries

Visual art is like the cool, colorful party where you'll find paintings, sculptures, and photos showing off their creative dance moves. Let me introduce you to fine art – it's the superstar in the spotlight at this arty bash. Fine art is like the Beyoncé of the art world, bringing the wow factor with every stroke and snap. It's not just about looking pretty; it's about making you feel something deep. So, next time you're hanging out with art, remember: every piece of fine art is visual art, but not every visual art piece gets that fancy fine art status!
