Research has shown that Guaranteed Basic Income (GBI) programs can have a myriad of positive outcomes for working-class families, including improved food and housing security, greater economic stability, and improvements in mental health due to reduced financial stress. H2HC's Fall 2023 Summit included a panel on exploring the role of basic income in advancing health equity. The panel, featuring content experts (Marybeth Mattingly, Megan Curran) and leaders piloting GBI programs locally (Geeta Pradhan, Marybeth Campbell), highlighted the significant impact these programs can have on health and wellbeing. Read about the GBI panel in the 2023 Fall Summit report (bit.ly/H2HCReport2023) and learn more about how local communities are benefiting from these innovative pilot programs in the Boston Globe Media piece below: https://lnkd.in/e2Sswyvm

The Future Social Care Coalition has made the economic case for putting more money into the social care sector which, according to Skills for Care, generated £51.5bn for the economy in England in 2021-22. #socialcare #carefunding #healthandsocialcare
Properly investing in social care will boost the UK economy, unlock jobs and take pressure off the NHS, according to a new report. The Carenomics report warned that the current fragmented and underfunded social care system was “stifling” the economy. It also argued that the government’s levelling up agenda and other transformational policies would not be achieved without substantial new investment in the sector. The report was published by the Future Social Care Coalition, a cross-party alliance of over 80 organisations and individuals including social care providers, charities, MPs and trade unions. #socialcare #socialcarefunding #futureofsocialcare #publicsector #healthandsocialcare

Centre for Coastal Communities - launch event (online) Join us to find out more about the Centre's research, help us develop and tackle key coastal challenges and see how you can get involved. https://lnkd.in/ey67qzFY About this event Please join us at our launch event to find out more about our research, help us develop and tackle key coastal challenges and see how you can get involved. Coastal communities have some of the worst health and wellbeing outcomes in England, with a higher burden of disease, across a wide range of physical and mental health conditions (CMO Annual Report 2021). In these communities there are also higher levels of unemployment, lower levels of educational attainment and an ageing population. There is a complex link between health, the environment and the economy and an urgent need to improve the life chances within these coastal communities. The aim of the Centre is to deliver research, innovation, and impact to address the challenges coastal communities face and take advantage of the opportunities they offer. Join us! To make sure we consider as many viewpoints as possible, we need to hear from policymakers, charities, public health workers and groups, think tanks and individuals interested in finding new ways of approaching these challenges. https://lnkd.in/ey67qzFY Institute of Public Health and Wellbeing

Monday night, I attended our City Board meeting and learned that our city received part of a grant for an outdoor fitness center. I am so excited about this project! I would like to volunteer to help raise funds for this important project. Now, I'm seeking capital funding for our Dublin, Texas city's outdoor fitness center. Here are key avenues we need to explore: - Public grants and low-interest loans from agencies like USDA Rural Development. - Private sources such as local donors, foundations, and philanthropic organizations. (Please reach out to me if you are interested in donating) - Strategic planning to align with community healthcare needs and ensure feasibility. We'll blend multiple funding sources for success. We'll explore more at ruralhealthinfo.org and hrsa.gov. #FundingOpportunities #CommunityHealth #FitnessInitiative #RuralDevelopment #Grants #Partnerships

BCBSM Foundation releases annual report Last year, the BCBSM Foundation focused on supporting research and programs that addressed the needs of Michigan’s most vulnerable populations — pregnant people, children, seniors and those who historically experience disparate health care access and outcomes. The 2022 BCBSM Foundation Annual Report features 85 grants to improve health and increase access to high-value care. Additionally, the annual report highlights how the foundation facilitated multiple grant-funding partnerships, targeting some of Michigan’s most pressing health issues and investing in local and regional approaches to population health. In 2023, we will continue to expand our relationships with more Michigan nonprofit organizations and researchers, and increase the number of public-private partnerships working to innovate and implement solutions to Michigan’s most pressing health issues. In case you missed it! Last week, we announced £12 million of #NationalLottery funding has been awarded to community groups across the UK to bring communities together through The UK Fund. This programme is a bold commitment as part of our new strategy, #ItStartsWithCommunity, helping to tackle some of the big social issues communities are facing. This announcement follows the launch of a new report, revealing findings from our Community Research Index - a survey of over 8,000 UK adults designed to find out people’s priorities and aspirations for their local community. The results show: 📊. Seven in ten (72%) say that it’s important to them to feel part of their local community. 📊. Only around half feel they have the opportunity (53%) or ability to play a role in their community (46%). The UK Fund prioritises these community ambitions, supporting organisations that bring people with different life experiences together to form connections that support healthier lives. Take The Roots Programme for example, which has been awarded funding through The UK Fund to connect people from different backgrounds, bridging societal divides and finding commonality. Ruth Ibegbuna, Founder of The Roots Programme, said: “This funding offers opportunities for people to connect with those who may feel out of reach, creating rich relationships to strengthen our communities. We believe that a more connected, curious, compassionate and hopeful society is possible.” Read about the nine projects to benefit from The UK Fund ➡️ https://ow.ly/upVX50RbpEL
