We were thrilled to host our US team for an onsite event in Chicago this week! While we love being a remote team, connecting with each other in-person is irreplaceable. Can't wait to see the entire team in Nashville later this year! #HumaniHR

Hiya 👋 Thank you for the likes, reactions and comments on my most recent post. Now, I said I was going to be sharing some people tidbits, so I am going to do my best here and share a non-exhaustive list of free HR/people groups 🤝 and #slackcommunities which are worth checking out. I was the sole HR person at my prior workplace which was great for creating a sense autonomy and boosting my growth, but it's always nice to connect with others involved in the same field: 💡 Resources for Humans: a community of 10,000+ HR/people professionals hosted by Lattice. This community has a solid code of conduct, intent on keeping out solicitors and ‘sales’ to focus the discussions on HR-related topics. They organise virtual get togethers i.e there's a UK meet ups channel and Grace Cheung does a masterful job of managing the thriving community https://lattice.com/humans 💡 People over Perks: provided by Leapsome, this 6,000 strong community also shares best practice and resources; even running ask-me-anything sessions. https://lnkd.in/eth-vdZd (they also have a podcast but I’ve not listened to it yet) 💡 People Geeks 🤓: share experiences from thought leadership to shared cultural challenges on a community provided by Culture Amp https://lnkd.in/eyEiSjdA 💡 People Stories: a peer network bringing together passionate, progressive, people-focussed professionals (a lot of P’s). https://lnkd.in/eUC7uJCy There are others which perhaps don't have as many rules or community guidelines such as HR to HR or #People. #hrcommunity #onlinecommunities #peoplecentric Would you have any other suggestions for community groups? Company culture has become a major deciding factor when switching jobs, often trumping compensation & daily responsibilities as deciding factors between competiting offers. Here are some ways you delve into company culture when looking for a new job: ✔ Ask the recruiter/hiring manager how they would describe the company culture AND your specific team's culture. ✔ Glassdoor reviews can offer some insight- look for themes vs 1 irate former employee. ✔ Use LinkedIn to connect with people within the organization to assimiliate with your potential team. See & hear how West Shore Home lives the culture: https://lnkd.in/enT5N7kY Feel free to drop any other suggestions in the comments below 👇 #culturematters #bettereveryday #applytoday #nowhiring #topworkplaces2023

HR needs more community...💔 😰 People are tired, burnt out, under-resourced and often feel alone But it's not until you start connecting with other folks in similar situations that you start to realise that you really aren't on your own. 🖤 That's a common thread I've seen as we've grown our own community here at Open Org; mostly folks who are in lean or lone people or talent teams, dealing with imposter syndrome, and missing that soundboard. My advice, find a community that gives you: 🤗 Support 💬 Answers to those burning questions 🌱 Growth opportunities 📚 Resources, tools, templates 🧠 Alignment to personal beliefs... for us, that's transparency at work If that resonates with you, we'd love to have you, but equally, our community might not be right for you if: ❌ You want quantity over quality (We're intentionally small, but engaged) ❌ You want a free community (Open Org Individual Membership is £20pm) ❌ You don't much care for transparency (We'll just bore you to death ☠) We're growing a movement of members that care deeply about building more open, trusted places of work. They've been burned before, seen the dangers of secretive, silo'd workplaces, and some have been lucky enough to see how powerful transparency can be too. Come join in! www.openorg.fyi/community

RANDOM THOUGHTS WHILE LOOKING UP At our first Network Council gathering for BRITEnetwork this year, we asked all of the attendees to share the most critical concerns they had looking ahead over the next few years. The response was almost unanimous, workforce development. Digging deeper into this over dinner, the topic seemed to present a few different perspectives. Developing and maintaining compelling opportunities and environments for workers in any given location or region (in my case, Ohio). Developing the skillsets and capabilities within our available workforce that will anticipate and meet the demands of a rapidly changing professional landscapes. Putting this into more casual speak, it translates into, how will be develop and keep talent in our region, and what skills will they need to be relevant? Following the rabbit hole from this initial conversation has been its own experience, connecting through the same layers of the ecosystem that I engage everyday, but from a different angle, where workers, instead of the innovations and technologies themselves become the focal point, inspiring questions like the following: How will employers, attract and keep talented professionals in our area. What will their priorities and key motivators be? As technology advances at an unprecedented speed, what specific skillsets will be required to keep workers armed and relevant in the future landscape? What resources will educators, workforce and job site training facilities need to maintain programs that are relevant and meaningful to tomorrow’s employers? In September of 2023, our Network Council for BRITEnetwork will converge on the city of Cincinnati to explore this question with regional and national thought leaders and industry experts as it applies to energy technology, innovation and the workforce that will drive it forward. As we prepare to engage this question on our side, I'm also posting it for collective insight and input. For those of you that are in the energy technology space as employers and/or those responsible for educating and training the workforce of tomorrow….. What resources will you need to attract and keep workers? What special skillsets and professional capabilities will you be looking for in tomorrow’s workforce? What educational and training programs will we need to develop to keep future workers current and competitive? I welcome your own questions and answers, either here or shoot me an email and lets talk, jrohan@brite.org I would love to hear your thoughts. Meanwhile, bonus points to the first person who can guess where I was when I took this picture. To learn more about BRITEnetwork, visit brite.org/network

Today I will be talking with Jesse Mulligan on RNZ National about how technology enables a new way of working. Work from home, work from holiday, work from a cafe, multiple jobs, portfolio careers, what's the technology that enables all this? It's more than an Internet connection these days.. #futureofwork #futureofworkplace #wfh #workfromhome #worktech #tech #techbusiness Melita Tull M2 Magazine
