For more than 30 years, Eritrea has suffered under the one-man rule of unelected President Isaias Afewerki. There are no independent courts, no legislature – essentially nothing to check his power. In today's Daily Brief, Andrew Stroehlein explains why you should know about Eritrea:

For many years, Eritreans have endured immense suffering, fleeing their homeland in search of safety and a better life. Our people are voting with their feet, escaping oppressive conditions only to face further dangers along the way. They perish in the deserts of Arabia, struggle for survival in the jungles of Ethiopia, and encounter immense challenges at the borders of Sudan, Kenya and Uganda with human traffickets (mercilessly to market their body organs). Finally, & tragically, many of these refugees embark on perilous voyages across the Mediterranean Sea, where countless lives end in tragedy as their boats sink into the unforgiving waters. This crisis raises critical questions about the world's commitment to human rights and compassion. The so-called champions of human rights often lack true "humanity," offering empty promises and insufficient action. Meanwhile, African dictators show no mercy to their people, perpetuating a cycle of suffering and neglect. One cannot help but wonder if there is a deliberate effort to destroy our people, as the systematic neglect and brutal treatment they face seem almost orchestrated. The international community must recognize the urgency of this crisis and act decisively. The plight of Eritrean & African refugees and others in similar situations is a tragic narrative that demands immediate attention and action. We must strive for justice and compassion, ensuring that no more lives are lost to such inhumanity. Let us work together to provide solace and support to those in need, and to create a future where all people can live with dignity and hope. The following Human Right Watch report articulate the situation, but it is only talk with no or little action.

Under the completely wrong and completely reprehensible [political] public agenda of handing over territory or not, Azerbaijani armed officers are brought closer to our villages, and the Armenian authorities make statements recognizing Azerbaijan's jurisdiction. In the conditions when the authorities of Azerbaijan declares Armenia "Western Azerbaijan" and sponsor racism and xenophobia against Armenians, the Armenian government steps cause serious problems for the residents of the villages, starting from property rights to security. Still in 2021 I used the examples of Syunik and Gegharkunik in the National Assembly of Armenia to war what consequences will arise as a result of such wrong steps.

Did the UN fly its flag at half-mast after the massacre of 1200 Israelis on October 7th or after the crash of the ‘butcher of Tehran’? UNfortunately, it only happened this week in honor of the latter, who was responsible for murdering thousands of innocent Iranians (and hence, his nickname). Honoring a mass murderer and a president of a radical regime can only be done by a morally bankrupt institution like the UN. To balance this new low, I want to echo one sane voice coming from the United Kingdom Security Minister Tom Tugendhat: "President Raisi’s regime has murdered thousands at home, and targeted people here in Britain and across Europe. I will not mourn him." What else needs to happen before the democratic nations of the world decide to defund the UN? Why aren’t taxpayers in Europe and the U.S protesting in the streets to put an end to this fallacy?

🌀Before you advocate for Military Rule in Nigeria our great country. These are things to consider;👇🏾 Let me inform you that, Military doesn’t rule with Constitution but with Decrees. Also note that the Military Rule does not tolerate the demand for restoration of Mandate, You can ask *Late Chief MKO Abiola* The military Rule doesn’t tolerate agitation for the restoration of any Country, you will be killed if you tried such Nonsense. Please ask *Late Adaka Boro* The military Rule doesn’t tolerate agitation for resources control. You will be hanged, You can ask *Late Ken Sarowiwa* The military Rule doesn’t know what is called Rule of Law, You can ask *Femi Falana SAN, President Tinubu, Chief Mike Ozekhome, Festus Keyamo, Olisa Agbakoba and Shehu Sani.* The military Rule doesn’t understand what the court is. The military do not tolerate peaceful protest or Assembly. All form of protest and their organizers are treated as rebels. When the military takes over, all social media will be shot down. You won’t be twerking on Instagram and TikTok any more. Before you prepare for madness, go and ask those who have ran mad before you to explain in details what is involved. May Nigeria🇳🇬 succeed and continue to triumph against her detractors.👏🏾
