Detention of children must always be a last resort, and governments must always act with the best interests of the child as a primary consideration. The best and great changes in the laws which will change the direction of Indian law enforcement. • Death sentence for child rape. • 20 years in jail for gangrape. • Update on FIR mandatory within 90 days. • Women, minors and seniors exempt from going to police station. • New section on organised crime. • One year jail for bribing voters during election. • Law on treason completely repealed. • Terrorism defined for the first time. • Community service introduced as punishment. * Judgments are now required within 45 days of completion; charges to be framed within 60 days of first hearing.

The community needs to stop asking their government for more punitive action. The community needs to get savvy to that the governments of Australia is not providing best practice solutions to juvenile nor adult crime. The solutions are available. Political parties typically use no-solution as a method to hook your vote. More prison time equates to increased crime. It's your community, don't you think its time your own hands around this issue? Or do you just want to leave it to people who believe their best interest is in having crime continue. #justice

Dear friends and colleagues, My esteemed CDH colleagues Brigitta Mangale and Sebastian William Foster have written an insightful alert on developments in anti-bullying measures in South Africa. In response to social pressure placed on the State and the Department of Basic Education (DoBE), the DoBE has revealed plans to pass new laws that would allow minor school children to obtain a protection order against other minors – who both may be as young as 10 – with the potential of jail time for the bully. Read their alert below to find out if this is the appropriate solve in addressing these issues. Sadly, bullying is also a plague in the workplace. The Code of Good Practice on the Prevention and Elimination of Violence and Harassment in the Workplace (the Code) became effective on 18 March 2022. The Code introduced new definitions for terms such as workplace bullying, cyber bullying, mobbing, and victimization. It expands the application of perpetrators and victims of harassment to include non-employees and emphasizes the need for preventative measures, policies, training, and appropriate actions when incidents occur. The definition of Workplace Bullying casts a very wide net, defining it as “unwanted conduct in the workplace, which is persistent or a single incident which is serious and insults, demeans, humiliates, lowers self- esteem or self-confidence or creates a hostile or intimidating environment or is calculated to induce by submission or by actual or threatened adverse consequences, which includes the abuse of coercive power by either an individual or a group of individuals in the workplace.” Read more here : https://lnkd.in/dxQr4wKG #bullying #workplacebullying #stopbullying
