Over one million refugees were living in Sudan when the conflict started there last year, after fleeing repression in Eritrea and atrocities in Ethiopia. There’s no clear protection or evacuation strategy for any of these refugees. More in Andrew Stroehlein's Daily Brief:

As the conflict in #Gaza is on-going, leading to humanitarian disaster, some have accused #Jordan (and #Egypt) for refusing to take in Palestinian refugees. This misreads not only the history of the #Palestinians, but also of Jordan itself. I gave some explanations to Deutsche Welle: https://lnkd.in/e4QPr3w4

The crisis in #Sudan is affecting national food availability, with estimates showing that 1/3 of the population is in need of emergency food assistance. 🍲 #SocialAssistance in the form of food and cash transfers is a critical lifeline for many, provided mainly through humanitarian response. New research from the Institute of Development Studies by Becky Carter, Hassan-Alattar Satti and Izzy Birch explores how aid actors can improve their food and cash support, with a focus on how it can be more conflict-sensitive 👇 https://lnkd.in/djDqTSKU

PMJM, You should be talking sustainability here!!! How about investing in job creation and upskilling the young unemployed population??? Our target should be to eradicate unemployment and not bringing in skilled experts who will obviously displace some of the working population! You are basically proposing to solve a problem with a thousand other problems! Starting to wonder if this is just another geopolitical stunt by PM! If so, just bare in mind, you are impressing the world while attracting hate and distrust within the country! Good luck with the decision from you and your very wise advisors!!!

Is this another Political Propaganda by PMJM? I mean I understand we do need some specialist Doctors but do we have the equipments/machines? PMJM has not even addressed unemployment in PNG yet. We have so many skilled workers and University graduates looking for placement in the workforce. #Createemployment #PngForPng

It has been evident for the past couple of years that workers conditions and wellbeing being has not been a priority of government and yet we are offering assistance for skilled workers displaced refugees. And what jobs will they have available at the rate in which business is being killed in the country. We are in no place capable of handling or even offering to extend humanitarian assistance when we are not aware or ignorant of the fact that government decisions are killing the prospect of growth for business in the country. How many new jobs do we create annually?? We have degree and Diploma holder school leavers queueing up for semi skilled job vacancies and the government has the audacity to belittle the distressed status of our economy. Only when we are able to look out for the interest of our workers, are we able to extend the same to our brethren.

Sudanese refugees in Ethiopia face dire conditions amid the lawlessness and civil strife in the Amhara and Tigray regions. Fleeing violence and instability in Sudan, these refugees encounter a harsh reality where safety and resources are scarce. The ongoing conflicts in Ethiopia exacerbate their plight, limiting access to humanitarian aid, food, and medical care. Many live in overcrowded and under-resourced camps, vulnerable to exploitation and further displacement. The compounded crises leave them in a precarious situation, struggling for survival and yearning for stability in an environment fraught with uncertainty and danger. Many want to even return back to Sudan rather the be roped and killed in a refugee camp

Allow me to draw your attention to the Inhumane Plight of Sudanese Refugees on the Sudan-Ethiopia Border. The world must turn its attention to the dire situation unfolding on the Sudan-Ethiopia border. Thousands of Sudanese refugees, fleeing the devastating war in Sudan, find themselves in perilous conditions in the border forests. These refugees, who have already endured unimaginable hardships, are now struggling to secure basic necessities like water. The scarcity of safe drinking water forces them to make dangerous journeys, often falling prey to brutal attacks by armed groups, known as Alshafta, as they seek access to water sources. The conditions in these makeshift camps are inhumane. The refugees live in constant fear, with inadequate shelter, food, and medical supplies. Their cries for help seem to go unheard, and the international community’s silence is deafening. We must raise our voices and demand immediate action to address this humanitarian crisis. Governments, international organizations, and human rights groups must step in to provide urgent aid and protection for these vulnerable individuals. Let us stand in solidarity with the Sudanese refugees and ensure their plight is not ignored. Every human being deserves safety, dignity, and access to basic needs. It’s time for the world to act. #SudaneseRefugees #HumanRights #EndTheSilence #HumanitarianCrisis #WaterForAll
