Feeling a little bit proud that the team has taken home the prize for the Best Charity Stand at the Lib Dem Party Conference in Bournemouth.
Really chuffed that a homegrown idea from the team, developed over a virtual cup of tea, has had such cut through, with several people saying it was ‘the talk of the conference’.
Really good example of @RNIB’s brand and policy working together in the best way, with a slick, attention-grabbing execution, sitting on meaningful foundations. The creative, welcoming design of the stand, built as a studio flat, belies a deeper policy message that thousands of blind and partially sighted people are missing out on the vision rehabilitation they are entitled to after a potentially devastating diagnosis. Hundreds of visitors over three days, including Lib Dem Leader Ed Davey, were able to experience the near impossibility of performing every day tasks, such as making a brew, wearing ‘sim specs’ which simulate different sight loss conditions, without necessary support. It was a great way to build a shortcut to understanding and generate the right conversations about what needs to change to ensure everyone gets the support they have a right to and can live a life of choice.
It was a great outing for our emerging policy priorities to drive inclusion and participation. Next stop the Conservative and Labour Party Conferences… First, a well earned rest for the team!
