During down times hiring contract solutions is a great way to keep projects on target for completion. It's a cost-effective way to utilizing rather than hiring a full-time employee, especially for short-term or specialized projects. #Vp #engineering #operations

The most challenging aspect of hiring is that you will never know for sure if someone is going to be a great fit in your organization until they jump in the seat and start working. It's important to have a thorough vetting process, AND at some point you have to pull the trigger and find out. Don't let fear be the driver of your decision making process. #Hiring #Transporation #Logistics #supplychain #Recruiting #ProfessionalDevelopment

📚 The difference between Recruiting and Hiring is this... "We will hire someone with less experience, less education, and less expertise than someone who has more of those things and has a rotten attitude. Because we can train people. We can teach people how to lead. We can teach people how to provide customer service. But we can't change their DNA" - Herb Kelleher #newbeginnings #newgraduate #recruitmentjobs #traininganddevelopment #careercoaching #mentoringmatters #learninganddevelopment

It's so easy to be short sighted. Instead, hire for what will benefit the company the most in the next 10 years, not the next 1 year. This doesn't mean the hire will be with the company for all ten years, but rather that in your time working together, you should lay the foundation for years of business success. Job interviews are tricky and awkward for everyone, but for neurodiverse people, they’re an active obstacle to gaining employment. I would even say that job interviews expose the innate bias that many neurotypical people are born with against neurodiversity. Think “body language” — one of the many pieces of advice given to people before an interview is to make strong eye contact, a firm handshake, and to sit straight and still. These are all things most autistic people struggle with. One thing autistic people are told time and time again when they reveal their diagnosis is, “Oh, but it’s a superpower! Autism is a superpower!” So why not hire a superhero, then? I would love to bring together a team of neurodiverse individuals to discuss what the solution to this system is.
While in the hiring process we are looking for people who ‘can think outside of the box’ should we not be looking at our own ability to do same… loved this from Cúnla ní Bhraonáin Morris

“Skill and talent can’t make up for the costly impact that toxic employees have on your organization; it’s better to catch that behavior before the person joins your team. Do your homework. Rely on structured, behavioral interviews. Conduct thorough reference checks. Investigate hunches thoroughly. And put your best foot forward. After all, it pays to be civil.”
When you're interviewing a job candidate, be on the lookout for signs of civility.

When hiring someone for a technical position, one of the first things a hiring manager looks for is experience. It is important to have a strong understanding of the technology being used and a proven track record of success in similar positions. Having a technical background is also beneficial, as this can help demonstrate a candidate’s understanding of the technology and the ability to use it effectively.
