Had a read through of the State of the City Address by the Mayor of Harare and some interesting pieces of information out. Local Development Planning- A number of Developments Permits were approved during the first Quarter of the Year. A cumulative total of 26 Private subdivision Permits were issued. 34 Cluster Housing Development permits were issued and these have a total yield of 211 units and 37 Straight Permits (forward planning & special consent) were issued. A total of 3 Permits for flats were issued with a total yield of 13 units. Council is promoting densification and cluster home development as a broad strategy to address housing shortages in Harare.

Multi-storey news- The province of #BritishColumbia has approved bylaws expanding how many homes can be built on previously single-family residential lots in an effort to increase density in residential neighbourhoods. The changes approved by council will affect 30,933 residential lots in Burnaby alone, representing 99.6 per cent of those lots, meaning almost all local lots will now be zoned for at least four units. #Planners have over 100 lot configurations and have shared the examples of height configurations for small-scale multi-unit multiplex housing in Burnaby.
