How do you prioritize your time spent on #connection vs. #productivity? For most of us, one of these skills is more comfortable than the other. When you think about what makes a strong and effective #leader, which is more important? Any aha moments yet? Most of us move up the management ladder because we get stuff done, and this may reinforce that we should prioritize productivity. This definitely resonates with me. I’ve always been focused on results and it served me well in my corporate career. However, since I started my own businesses, I continue to realize how much more important relationships are; and now I am more intentional about creating deeper connections. And, the reality is…good leaders lead. And leading others requires connection. People need to know their leaders before they can trust them. Connecting with others and building relationships requires intention, whether it’s with clients or team members, and even in our personal lives. Pay attention to how you’re spending your valuable time; consider the relationships you’ve built and the impact it’s made on your success. By the way, you may find it interesting that BetterUp found that employees who are well connected to their co-workers have a 56% higher level of overall performance. It turns out that teamwork leads to innovative solutions and better problem solving. Good to know! How can you improve your connection skills and ultimately improve your productivity…? Perhaps your focus on connection will inspire your team members to make it a priority and it will be a win - win - win. #CEOs #womenbusinessowners #professionaldevelopment

Thoroughly enjoyed my fun and intriguing Podcast interview with Gabe Chrismon, Co-Founder of MyHome and Owner of Adroit Restoration! One topic we discussed…whether you’re a #startup founder or the #CEO of a multinational corporation, when you’re at the top of a company, nobody is going to be as passionate about the business as you. Yes, some people are excited about the company’s mission and vision and offerings. Other people? They just need a job and a steady paycheck. And that’s 100% okay. Perhaps some of us have this idea that we should only hire people who are over the moon about a company and its trajectory. How realistic is this? Should they care about doing their job well? Of course. Is it reasonable to expect everyone to be passionate about the vision of the company? Perhaps their job is to fold clothes at a department store… Or flip burgers in a restaurant… They probably aren’t going to be excited, and certainly not as passionate as you, the founder, are… and that’s understandable. We all have to check our #expectations once in a while. I’m curious about your thoughts on this? Should you expect your team’s #passion for the company’s #mission and #vision to match yours as the CEO?
