🩺Unexpected Health Update 🩺 Last week I had my first doctor's appointment since saying "auf wiedersehen" to my corporate role & updating my health insurance... Nurse asked the usual questions. 🍸 "still multiple alcoholic beverages a week?" ☕ "still 2-4 cups of coffee or caffeinated drinks a day?" 💪 "and 1-2 workouts a week?" Umm.. nope a few changes there. 🍸 No longer drowning my sorrows at the multiple post-work happy hours - just 1 or 2 alcoholic beverages a month. ☕ Same goes for my caffeine dependency. 1 cup of coffee a day will do. 💪 From my desperate "gotta squeeze it in" gym sessions, to now 5-6 times a week, free time is a beautiful motivator. So cheers to the unexpected health revelation - happy Mocktail Monday🍹 Now brimming with energy and ready to write the next chapter of my professional story. So I'm curious, have you ever experienced a shift in your health after leaving a role?

Proud of you for making your health a priority! I remember a conversation last fall of how long it had been since you had a wellness doctors visit... Since leaving my role in early January and starting a new one a week later, I realized that you can have work life balance and have gotten back into my personal wellness routine. Having a job that truly allows for work life balance has been life changing over these last 5 months!!! Oh and I've found the time to pick up pickleball!!

When I left JMU for our big move to WV in 2019 I had to be super super intentional about structuring my day (because how easy is it to sleep in daily & binge TV shows without work constraints!). I went to the Marshall library every weekday at the same time and worked on my job search for a few hours... also joined the university rec center and went there after my library visit every day, then went home and walked the dog. I think that was the most in-shape I ever was (and could have gone the totally opposite way not having a strict schedule + unemployment woes)! This life stage can definitely go one of two ways, and I realize now looking back how important it was to be on top of it! PS can't wait for your news!! :)

Great insight and happy that you feel happier & healthier. The other day my career coach told me: “Wellness at work follows you home”. This quote stuck to my mind because it’s so true. When you are happy in the role you ocupy (corporate or not) everything runs smoothly. You feel better, it improves your health, boost your mood and people around you benefits from that too. I’m grateful for where I’m now in my career & personal life, and very excited for you too, Holly.

I love this, Holly! You are living your best life & I am here for it! I lost 10 pounds after my role was eliminated in August of 2023 from simply not sitting in front of a desk all day & getting in more steps....it's wild what walking can do for your overall health/wellness!
