What started as a cat adoption story, ended in marriage. Wanda, a resident of Holiday Rancho Village, was adopting a cat from her neighbor Tom when Cupid's arrow surprisingly struck. “My friends know me as ‘don’t want anybody, don’t need anybody, don’t put anybody in front of me,’" Wanda shares. “I pretty much made that clear to everybody.” But Tom changed things. "I just could not get her out of my mind,” he said. “It’s all I thought about for months and months and weeks and weeks.” After Wanda adopted his cat, he used it as an excuse to pay her visits, and the rest is history. Valentine’s Day may be over, but our wives are should still be a priority. Our marriage is the greatest example we have for our kids. We model so much that they need simply by loving our wife. However, sometimes we struggle with what that really means. I am joined by Adam and Karissa King, founders of Dear Young Married Couple, to learn more about what it means for a husband to love his wife. We discuss Ephesians 5:25 and what it means, as well as practical tips for husbands. #marriage #love #family #christiandad

Christ follower, husband, father of 3, Author, speaker & coach. I’ve coached hundreds of men to better health, habits & living intentional lives. To change the world, start within.
I have gaps & weakness. My wife has gaps & weaknesses. But as we grow together we FILL EACH OTHERS gaps more & more. •People & friends fade. •Looks & things fade. •Jobs & titles fade. But love, loyalty & legacy last forever. A great marriage takes COMMITMENT & an EFFORT from both to serve the other. It’s not 50-50 like they tell you. Sometimes it’s 90-10 & others it’s 5-95. But neither one keeps score because WE ARE ONE. It’s the most fulfilling & fun adventure ever though when BOTH are locked in & growing together. Strong families & locked in couples raising strong kids will save our society. Prioritize your marriage & home. What you do from 9-5 matters. What you do from 5-9 matters more.

Writer of clean epic fantasy by night. By day, operations manager for Latter-day Saints in Publishing, Media, and the Arts (LDSPMA) and BK Authors, Inc.
Part of my mission as an author is to write fantasy books that are "family focused." I don't just mean “family-friendly” (that's covered by my commitment to write clean material). I mean stories that champion family and marriage as fundamental institutions for a flourishing society. Many books and movies out there feature a cast of adult functioning as individuals. If there are family members in the story, they are frequently used as a source of conflict. And while there are plenty of stories about people falling in love, there are few stories that show husbands and wives nurturing healthy, long-lasting relationships. This media trend is largely unintentional. (It's simply easier to write a protagonist as an individual than as an integrated part of a family unit.) But I believe it is harmful. I think it has contributed to a culture where families and marriage are seen as, at best, nonessential, and at worst, a problem. I mean to be different. In “The Pyromancer's Scroll,” for example, you'll see: - A young queen being comforted by a vision of her departed father. - A military general relying on the support and companionship of his two brothers. - A wife exerting her faith and love to drag her husband from the brink of death. - A man who abandons a promising but sketchy profession to instead find lasting fulfillment as a husband and father. - Children and families referenced frequently in descriptions of crowds and population centers. (In pre-modern societies, children often outnumbered adults!) What are some "family-focused" stories that you love? #cleanfantasy #cleanfiction #family #marriage #familyproclamation #strongfamilies #fantasy #cleanreads

Expanding Your Vocabulary: Five Essential Family-Related Terms Post:🔹 Kinship: Understanding the complexities of kinship is essential for genealogists tracing their family history. It refers to the relationship between members of a family, typically based on blood or marriage. 🔹 Sibling: Growing up with three siblings taught me the importance of cooperation and compromise. A sibling is a brother or sister, sharing at least one parent. 🔹 Descendant: As a descendant of immigrants, I am proud of my cultural heritage and the sacrifices made by my ancestors. A descendant is a person who is directly related to someone in a preceding generation. 🔹 In-law: My mother-in-law has been a supportive and loving presence in our family since the day I married her son. In-law refers to a relative by marriage, rather than by blood. 🔹 Progeny: Our greatest responsibility as parents is to raise our progeny to be kind, responsible, and compassionate individuals. Progeny refers to a person’s children or descendants. Let’s enhance our vocabulary and deepen our understanding of the family dynamics! Feel free to share any additional family-related terms you find interesting. #VocabularyExpansion #FamilyTerms #LanguageLearning
