A CLOSER LOOK: Human Resources In today's dynamic business landscape, the role of Human Resources (HR) has evolved from traditional personnel management to a strategic partner crucial for organizational success. As companies navigate through rapid technological advancements and changing workforce dynamics, HR professionals are at the forefront, driving policies that foster growth, innovation, and a positive workplace culture. Attracting top talent is a critical function of HR. In a competitive job market, innovative recruitment strategies are essential. This includes leveraging social media, employee referrals, and advanced applicant tracking systems. Equally important is employee retention. HR must implement effective onboarding processes, continuous learning opportunities, and clear career progression paths to keep employees engaged and committed. A diverse and inclusive workplace is crucial for fostering creativity and collaboration. HR plays a significant role in promoting diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) through targeted initiatives and policies. By creating an environment where all employees feel valued and included, companies can harness a wide range of perspectives and ideas. At HVCH, the Human Resources team consists of Sheri Thompson, Payroll, Benefits, & Leave Coordinator, Amber Lehman, Human Resources Generalist, and Megan Wright, Chief Human Resources Officer. With over 40 years of experience at HVCH, Sheri is an automatic go-to as she is not only an expert in her role, but her organizational knowledge is abundant! Her care and commitment to our employees is commendable and hard to duplicate. Amber, while being new to her role in Human Resources, is also no stranger to all things HVCH. Over her nearly 10 years with HVCH, she has held a number of positions such as STNA, Education Assistant, and Education Coordinator. Spend a few minutes chatting with Amber about HVCH and it is evident why she has been promoted many times as she possesses people and organization skills combined with a work ethic and passion to do her best and help others. Rounding out the team is Megan who is the rookie to HVCH with 4 years of service, but she is no rookie to Human Resources. After more than 15 years in private healthcare and IT organizations, Megan transitioned to HVCH in 2020 and has found her “home” with HVCH. After years of higher education to obtain a bachelors and master’s degree, and with over 18 years of management and HR professional experience, Megan enjoys that each day in HR brings something new and different and offers novel subjects to learn about. Learning never ceases when in the Human Resources field and there is even more when working within healthcare.
