Big shout out to national charities like Unseen UK and The Salvation Army UK and Ireland Territory for providing modern-day slavery & exploitation helplines and working tirelessly to provide information, advice and guidance about modern slavery issues to: ✔️Potential victims and survivors ✔️The public ✔️Statutory agencies such as the NHS and police ✔️Businesses Modern slavery is closer than you think. There could be victims of exploitation working in domestic servitude or forced labour literally on your street. Please, please, please report anything suspicious, even if you're wrong; it doesn't matter. You never know. A common myth about human trafficking is that traffickers target victims they don’t know. But in reality, the vast majority of trafficking survivors know—and often love—their traffickers, who could be a family member, friend, partner, spouse, or employer. Traffickers often use romantic relationships or family love to manipulate, coerce, and exploit victims. This Valentine’s Day, one of the greatest acts of love you can take for survivors is to learn the truth behind common human trafficking myths. Understanding this crime is the best way to end it.
