I've encountered some #services "#SalesProfessionals" in the past who were unwilling to present candidates unless they were a 100% fit for every single item on a very looong wish-list of qualifications created by clients that wanted to hire a "team in a suit". The roles for these folks will be eliminated in the first wave of #AI implementation because it doesn't take any skill to match a punch-list to keywords in a resume. This is nothing more than a #DriveThru #Order-taking Bot function and honestly this isn't that complicated a process. I've been in I/T for over 40 years now and for greater than 25 of those years I've been a consultant, contributing on more projects with more clients than I can list. There was one 3-year stretch with #IBM where I did a series of "#SmartGrid" projects and managed to transition thru three consecutive projects in a row in the same industry vertical. However, other than that, every. single. transition. has been to a new industry vertical for #Fortune500 clients and there has been no issue because I'm a #information #engineer, NOT a #BusinessConsultant. I'm there to document THEIR business information needs, not cut-and-paste their competitors business models into their environment. Have some #professional pride. I find #sales to be exceptionally hard, hence my focus on #IT, but if it is the path you have chosen, know BOTH your #TechnicalDomain and your #FunctionalIndustry and have the courage to educate your #client and not just function as an order-taker. #consulting #GetOffaMyLawn
