We always hear from Technology Company CEO's that they are not able to hire good people and even if they get some its always 3 times costlier than they think of. Eg: The other day a friend CEO says that 4 years of tech experience is asking for 25 lacs and above ( all generic skills of Tech). I guess it may not be true all the times. Also my personal opinion is that the Talent Acquisition teams that we have or we depend lack the ability to search and reach that right talent. Most of the times we noticed that the same candidate has been approached by Recruiters & Agencies making the resource act more pricey. What do you think? I have hired 50 people over my last 3 jobs and a business Running a team of 15 people at the moment, here is my hiring strategy that helps us hire the best candidates out of the applications that we get - Step 1 - Form - We have a hiring form where we ask details of the candidates. 📍Their last job - why do they want to leave 📍1-min video of why they want to get hired 📍Writing samples 📍Salary expectations This helps me analyse - 📍Their reason for moving on, expertise and financial goals Step 2 - Task - We have an elaborate task made for our candidates where refrences and writing style is mentioned. If they follow what’s written - that tells us about their skills to follow what’s said and work according to the team, processes and culture If they don’t follow the instructions - we get to know their creative side and then we ask them what they did not like in our narrative. Step 3 - Online interview - We take this very seriously. This is not a technical round for us. We ask about their - 1. Financial aspirations 2. Family 3. Goals 4. History 5. Big Tech Hiring Shows Recovery Signs in India 🖥 🖱 👨💻 FAAMNG companies—Facebook (Meta), Amazon, Apple, Microsoft, Netflix, and Google (Alphabet)—are seeing a surge in active job openings in India after a period of global layoffs and a tough business environment. As of June 2024, the number of active openings has increased to 5,500, though this is still about 50% less than typical hiring volumes in India, according to data from staffing firm Xpheno. Job openings at FAAMNG firms in India hit a record low of 200 in December 2023, down from 2,000 in December 2022. The current job opportunities span engineering, IT, operations, sales programs, and project management, with top hiring locations in Bengaluru, Hyderabad, Chennai, and Delhi NCR. Globally, these companies have over 40,000 open roles, a number last seen in 2021. Prasadh MS, head of workforce research at Xpheno, notes that while there's growth in India, the recovery in hiring is slower compared to tech services companies. Sekhar Garisa, CEO of Foundit, adds that hiring is picking up due to renewed digital transformation plans in sectors like manufacturing, retail, and BFSI. Despite global layoffs, FAAMNG companies are focusing on selective hiring for critical projects. A report by The Wall Street Journal suggests that these companies have announced over 70,000 job cuts since late 2022, but overall headcounts have remained stable due to strategic hiring and M&As. In India, the shift of some overseas roles for cost optimization and organizational restructuring is creating new opportunities, especially in AI, data analytics, and cloud platforms.
