I am excited about the SHRM HR Certification prep course that starts in less than two weeks offered by Syracuse University. It has been my privilege over the years to help my colleagues in human resources get their SHRM-CP or SHRM-SCP certification. The class will be held virtually and there are still spots open. Hope to see you via Zoom on Thursday evenings. #hr #NY #hrcertification https://lnkd.in/gM8bJePB

As HR professionals, we're always looking to develop our skills and stay on top of the latest trends two major players in the HR world are CIPD and SHRM. But what's the difference between these two certifications? CIPD stands for the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development and is based in the UK. SHRM is the Society for Human Resource Management and is US based. Both offer training, conferences, networking, and research. Some key differences: 1- CIPD focuses more on public policy advocacy while SHRM leans more into HR best practices and tools. 2- CIPD champions reflective practice while SHRM is more prescriptive. 3-CIPD has a broader reach beyond HR like organization development and consulting. SHRM is laser-focused on HR professionals. No matter which you align with, becoming certified HR is so valuable because you will expand your network, get access to the latest research, and become a better HR practitioner. So get yours ASAP 👌🏾

As I reflect on yesterday's training with HR practitioners, I am reminded of the critical importance of Employment Equity (EE), Skills Development (SD), and Broad-Based Black Economic Empowerment (B-BBEE) in their application and interrelatedness. These elements must be viewed holistically, as they come together within the broader HR strategy, integrating with other disciplines such as recruitment and performance management. For any EE, SD, and B-BBEE initiatives to be truly effective and efficient, it is essential to craft a comprehensive yet practical strategy tailored to the business. I invite you to share your considerations and practices when developing and implementing similar strategies in the workplace. Your insights could greatly benefit others facing similar challenges.

We recently sent Monia (left) and Ashley (right) from our human resources (HR) team to the SHRM Annual Conference to stay ahead of the curve on HR trends and best practices. They came back with a wealth of insights to help us create an even better work environment for our employees. Here's a glimpse into what they learned: Monia: “My takeaways from the conference were not only getting to network with thousands of HR professionals from various industries, but also gaining valuable insights into the kind of work, leadership, and organizational strategies we can implement." Ashley: “SHRM offered a unique opportunity for us to learn from HR experts and innovators on topics such as employment law and legislation, strategic management, leadership development, global HR, and more. Attending the conference provided us with valuable personal development opportunities and introduced us to new ideas and approaches that we’re excited to bring back.” #EMCOR #HumanResources #EmployeeDevelopment
