Over the past two years, as a Sales Engineer at a small Printing/Pkg Equipment Distributor and then as a Sr. Buyer in Contract Pharma Pkg, I've spent time talking to my co-workers and contacts at all levels and there are several prevalent questions and/or issues that keep arising: 1. If it is reviewed at all, who actually is reviewing my resumes? - This is most common among online applicants, it is nearly impossible to know where you stand in an interview process, even when the company has it's own "internal" Recruiters. - The short answer is it is almost impossible to know, you are at the hiring companies whim. You're resume could be seen right away, or lost in their "database." - When you work with me, I can tirelessly follow up, and gain insight that a candidate would neither have the time or luxury of receiving. You will know who exactly has your resume, and where your profile is in the review and interview process. 2. How effective is applying online and how can I know whether a Decision Maker is actually reviewing my application? - This process is entirely hit or miss - It depends on where you are applying from (Job Board, Indeed, LI, Comp Job Site, etc.), the actual role, what "keywords" the company is associating with the role, and several other factors that can obscure an excellent candidate for an inconsequential reason. 3. A progressive regional water treatment company is looking for an experienced water treatment chemical sales representative for sales and service of water treatment chemicals (and associated equipment) in their Sacramento to Modesto, CA territory. Rep will take over an existing territory and focus on new and existing customers in the commercial, institutional and light industrial markets. Rep will focus on chemicals used in boiler, cooling tower and closed loop systems in the territory. Specific responsibilities will include: Day to day management of existing assigned accounts Development of new sales through cold calling and networking Maintain effective communications with client and company management Maintain industry knowledge through training and online programs Management of technical support team, when assigned. Company offers a base salary of 60-80K (plus existing commissions in the territory), excellent commission plan on new sales, company car, expenses, home based office (cell phone/laptop) and comprehensive benefits package. Company is looking for someone with the following qualifications: 4 year degree in a technical field highly desired but will consider industry experience in lieu of education At least 4 years of direct industrial water treatment chemical experience Previous sales experience highly desired Ability to work well with little supervision Strong mechanical aptitude Effective communication skills, both oral and written Ability to write intelligent technical reports in a timely fashion Highly motivated for sales.
