Burnette Shutt & McDaniel attorney Ashley Pennington joined judicial administrators from across the South for “The Role of Justice System Collaboration.” The panel discussion was part of a Conference of Chief Justices and the Conference of State Court Administrators regional conference. Ashley, a defense attorney and former public defender, talked about system collaboration from the perspective of public defenders. The panel explored ways agencies can work together to improve case processing. The goal of the conference, held this year in Charleston, is to examine pressing challenges facing courts and to explore opportunities for change. #bsmmovinglawforward

I’m someone seeking employment in a restaurant - from dishwasher to prep-cook; I'm manageable. And I have just concluded the Food Handlers Protection Course, awaiting the Final Exam!
See, Ken Strutin's "Truth, Justice, and the American style of plea-bargaining," 77 Albany Law Review 825 (2013). The author of this article, inter alia, was profoundly effective in capturing my attention to a defendant's right to be represented by 'effective counsel'. From my perspective, Mr. Strutin's philosophy to law was to allow the truth to prevail; whether through an eager law student, a newly acquired staff attorney, or seasoned lawyer, if not through self-litigation ( See, Bounds v. Casey ) His approach was motivational, article after after article; published through the New York Law Journal, his opinions matter most to me - while trying to crawl out of the depths of a hole constricted by 160+ months of further confinement - after digging through close to 80 months of pure self-deprecation. Gideon' provides the insight of what it takes to litigate, for others as well as for oneself, and Ken Strutin made sure non-lawyers knew it.

Temuljin Kensu has served over 30 years for a murder he did not commit and a federal judge once ruled prosecutorial misconduct occurred and vacated his conviction before that conviction was reinstated by a higher court on a technicality. #michiganattorney #legalethics #ethicsmatter #ethics #wrongfulconviction #justice #michiganlawyer #law #lawyer #lawyers #crime #murder #prosecutor #prosecutorialmisconduct #injustice #murder #homicide #stclaircounty #porthuron #legalethics #prosecutors #attorney #attorneys #gretchenwhitmer #governorwhitmer #politics #political #dems #democrats #criminaldefense #criminaldefenseattorney #criminaldefenselawyer
Last year on the #FourthofJuly, I spent my day fighting for my wrongfully convicted husband's freedom. This year in advance of the holiday, I submitted this ~60 page Attorney Grievance Commission Complaint regarding St. Clair County Prosecutor Mike Wendling’s #misconduct. It's my hope this year, he will spend his holiday defending his actions which abused my husband's civil rights and violated his due-process rights which resulted in his wrongful and invalid conviction to life in prison, that persists till this very day. I also addressed every single lie he told to the AGC last year regarding my husband's case. Please read and let's discuss!! Note: Mr. Wendling is the State Director for the Prosecuting Attorneys Association of Michigan and is on the Board of the National District Attorneys Association. I've separately engaged media to hold accountable the AGC for a real investigation into this misconduct. #AccountabilityMatters #MiWrongfulConviction Council on Criminal Justice State of Michigan State Bar of Michigan Maria Martinez #politicalprisoner
