Future college students/even adults... Would you ( could you ) do what you are going to go to college for ( or went to college for ) without a paycheck? Truly evaluate the statement " find what you love and go to school for that." Set your dream first because after a while in that field you "love" your passion for that field of study will diminish. Choose your dreams first!!! This way you know what you're working towards! and will choose the avenues that will get you there ( keep it moral, ethical of course ) Ask your self some questions... 1. What ministry do you want to be able to give to? Tithes? 2. How much do I want to be able to give? 3. How do you want you family to live? 4. How many kids do I want? 5. How much time freedom do you want? 6. Do you want to work for someone else's goals and dreams or your own? Choosing a career path before you even set your dreams is one of the most debilitating recommendations we hear all the time. Likely, you'll end up living paycheck to paycheck, paying off student loans, and possibly in debt for years to come.

Cry me a river on student loan stories. We the people take out a loan and must pay the loan. Why aren’t people paying as they go? Where did the beer money come from during college attendance? Could have gone toward your loan? Those giving loans should be providing an education about loans prior. Are parents educating their children about paying back loans? Are students aware they may not be able to purchase a home due to loan? Is their loan higher than the money they will make with that degree? Are people aware that employers will help them with continuing education? Get a job and pay as you go! First step in education: BE A RESPONSIBLE, CONTRIBUTING CITIZEN!!! Educators who do not teach responsibility as a citizen, first and foremost, should be fired! It is the priority of parents and teachers responsibility! # 1 Do not be irresponsible and become pregnant if you are not able to parent responsibly! Respect and manage your actions, your body. Do not use drugs and liquor to put yourself in a situation you are not being responsible. This is where YOU start being a responsible adult.

Between the cost of college skyrocketing and student loans having the potential to last a lifetime, many parents are reconsidering sending their kids to college. One of the biggest drivers in the attitude shift among parents about college for their kids is the escalating cost. Between the price of tuition and the burden of student loans, it’s not surprising that many families are rethinking the college equation. In fact, according to a recent Multiverse study, a mere 47% of parents thought that taking out student loans to pay for college is worth the burden of debt their children will be forced to pay off. 52% of parents mentioned financial stress about overpaying for post-high school education as a factor leading them to consider alternative pathways. Many parents also expressed that they thought their child would be able to get the skills they need on the job, and that financial independence is more important than a degree. Given that the cost of college has increased by 169% over the past 40 years and does not seem to be slowing down, the financial burden may not be worth it anymore. When you couple that with the fact that nearly half of those who attend college see no income premium versus a high school diploma 10 years after graduating, the need for educational alternatives is abundantly clear. The true cost of college can be very high—and getting higher every day. #EducationWithPurpose #College #CollegeDebt

Hoping my colleagues in Financial Aid, Career Services, Student Success, Student Accounts, Alumni and Advisement will coordinate their efforts to be sure that graduating students and alumni with student loans are aware of these repayment plans. Students can have their monthly loan payments tied to their income and there are also options for loan forgiveness. Colleges can make a positive impact post-graduation by offering information and guidance. How about Alumni Affairs staff join with Financial Aid staff to have this information available on alumni websites and at events?

The SAVE plan, which applies to current and future federal student loan borrowers, will determine payments based on income and family size, and some monthly payments will be as small as $0. The income threshold to qualify for $0 payments has been increased from 150% to 225% of federal poverty guidelines, which translates to an annual income of $32,805 for a single borrower or $67,500 for a family of four. The Education Department estimates this means more than 1 million additional borrowers will qualify for $0 payments under the plan.

"Returning to repayment will not impact me." Think again❌ This is something I am hearing not just in my day job at Candidly, but something I hear while out in my community and it is a myth🐲 that I want to bust. Sure, on average we see ~30% of folks have student loans. And so it makes sense to think only 30% of the country is going to feel the effects but it simply isn't true. See below: To the HR team with no student debt, 30% of your workforce is about to be impacted be more stress which will leave more work to the remainder of the org. To the parent with no loans but who cosigned to help qualify their student to receive the money they needed to get through school, you are impacted. To the small business owner who enjoys the steady flow of coffee☕▶ 🥗 ▶🍸, 30% of those people are going to have even less to spend on the "nice to haves" so they can begin repayments. These are but a few examples of how #R2R will impact us all. Thus, I urge you to have empathy when speaking on this subject matter and remember that this is impacting more people in more ways than you may realize. #StudentDebt #Repayment #MentalHealth #StudentLoans #Economy #SMB #Empathy
