On International Firefighters Day, we're proud to support firefighter education and preparedness at Fayetteville Technical Community College's Fire and Emergency Training Complex. Spanning 30-acres, this cutting-edge facility caters not only to students but also to the continuing education of our current firefighters in the region. As we embark on phase two of this complex, with two additional burn buildings, we're committed to enhancing immersive training experiences for all. Thank you to the firefighters and aspiring firefighters for your unwavering dedication to keeping our communities safe. #InternationalFirefightersDay #FirefighterTraining #SafetyFirst 📷 : Susan Holt Photography

Watch this time lapse from the Corral Fire. If you can't detect a fire when it's small, you often get big fires. OroraTech uses data from its own low earth orbit satellites as well as 25 public satellites to detect ignitions the size of a car. US Congress will be passing legislation this year to test more use of satellites for wildfire detection. But we don't need to test these new systems; they're already operational and being used in Australia, Canada, Chile and the European Union. Why are we last when it comes to adopting newer, nimble commercial solutions in fighting or even preventing wildfire? #wildfire #corralfire
Over the weekend, the Corral Fire, which broke out near Tracy, California, burned over 14,000 acres, prompted evacuations, and caused two firefighters to sustain moderate burn injuries. In addition to the post about this fire published by my colleague Steve Maisonet, I've also attached a short animation showing some data we received from space. #California #Tracy #wildfire #earthobservation OroraTech

A New Challenge: The Millennium Box As part of skills development, firefighters have traditionally gotten to know the types of construction they may face. Once, this meant knowing local variations such as the triple-deckers of the Northeast, the row houses of the Middle Atlantic states, and the shotgun houses of New Orleans. More recent variations have spread across much of the country, such as the ranch and Cape Cod styles of single-family houses and garden apartment complexes for multiple dwellings. https://lnkd.in/g8zGtwnk

This... Thank goodness he made it out alive! Now that we've established that... What should be done before stepping off a ladder onto the roof of a structure? Before stepping off a ladder, parapet wall, or other place of safety onto the roof of a burning building — especially if the roof surface is obscured by smoke or darkness — firefighters should sound the roof (if possible) by striking the roof surface with the blunt end of a pike pole, rubbish hook, or axe. #God #bless you all! and if you want to help with my grandsons situation it would be greatly appreciated. In Omaha, Nebraska. The yin and yang of the newest Riverfront project. Heartland of America Park and Lewis & Clark Landing. SPOILER ALERT: my eyes see #filmmaking and #commercialphotography #locations This post is not for tourists. But Omahaans might want to opine. The Skate Ribbon is cool and is widely popular. A small circle within a larger one with ample railings within trees is neat. They rent skates. Apparently this freezes in winter for ice skating. But all the poles and cables here clutter the surrounding views. Plus the nearby new apartments are an eyesore. Glad to see the original fountains in the HoAP pond. The whale bone pier thing is ok but the views from here in each direction are lame. Seems Omaha is on a weird mission to block the view of the city from the river. I thought this pier was suppose to extend out over the river? And in an original design I saw, the railroad tracks went under this park in a tunnel? Anybody have answers? The tiny beach with benches and umbrellas is cool. The marina seems convenient for boaters but there were none there. The playground is awesome but takes up too much space of key waterfront property. WHY is there no statue or exhibit or a plaque here about LEWIS & CLARK? This is a big-time part of American History. The Labor bronze is cool. IMO the Gene Leahy Mall section is better. It’s more walkable in short period of time, more public art, closer access to touchable water, plants, and parking. #locationscout always #locationscouting https://lnkd.in/gS9grTPP
