HH Architecture was honored to sponsor the Raleigh Chamber's annual Inter-City Visit in Atlanta last week. Our founder and CEO, Kristen M. Hess, spoke about making a commitment every single day to creating a lasting, meaningful impact on our community through conscientious, responsible design – design that truly reflects the mission and values of our clients. This work can only happen when we have business leaders, community members, and elected officials all working together in concert to create new and innovative opportunities for economic development and strategic growth. We value these experiences the @RaleighChamber provides, bringing us together to learn from other markets and cities, ensuring the work continues.

#businessarchitecture When we attach the word #architecture is this symbolic of complexity and, in turn, drive an audience of #technologyexperts? Does the leading word #business lose relevance and meaning because we use "architecture"? Since meeting Terry Roach I have learnt the importance of the two combined, our market is pivoting, changing, gathering momentum by disrupting the norm of #enterprisearchitecture but not ignoring the principles. And, YES, it is lead by #technologyexperts and #businessexperts that understand the gap between business and technology within organisations and by sharing a common goal companies can transition from #goodtogreat (Jim Collins Book 👍🏼... fantastic read) Members and the Leadership of #TCBAF please continue your fantastic pioneering work, #businessleaders globally will undoubtably benefit greatly from your incredible work..🏆
I just had the pleasure of a great day with the very inspiring community of Business Architects In Minneapolis. If you haven’t heard of them, the Twin Cities Business Architecture Forum #TCBAF is one of the longest running, most active and certainly most progressive group of business architects that I’ve met. Their annual Summit today was the second time I’ve visited and both have been very good time spent. I really love the way they think about our community and the generous way they contribute to one another and to our practice. Linda Finley and team, take a bow! Giving space for a vendor to present ideas is unusual and I’m immensely grateful for the opportunity. Thanks very much for letting my team and I share this time with you all.

Have a listen to my interview with Anne Lacaton & Jean-Philippe Vassal, 2021 Pritzker Prize Laureates and the Rothwell Program Co-Chairs at the University of Sydney’s School of Architecture, Design and Planning. They suggest architecture is about freedom, generosity, pleasure. Large spaces generate an essential feeling of escape and freedom. Large spaces facilitate appropriation, foster relationships within spaces, to allow for pleasurable situations, to encourage relations between people and promote social life. Enlarging does not mean wasting. Enlarging does not mean costing more. It means inventing space for uses and going beyond the norms and standards which reduce the living space. “TRANSFORMATION IS THE OPPORTUNITY OF DOING MORE AND BETTER WITH WHAT IS ALREADY EXISTING. THE DEMOLISHING IS A DECISION OF EASINESS AND SHORT TERM. IT IS A WASTE OF MANY THINGS—A WASTE OF ENERGY, A WASTE OF MATERIAL, AND A WASTE OF HISTORY. MOREOVER, IT HAS A VERY NEGATIVE SOCIAL IMPACT. FOR US, IT IS AN ACT OF VIOLENCE.” Anne Lacaton & Jean-Philippe Vassal https://lnkd.in/eVZeDEA7

This is a great reminder of the first lesson I learned in school: Architecture is a response to the people and their environment.
"We need to show that we care about community issues and we're solving problems for the community - and therefore they will demand better architecture from us." RIBA President Muyiwa Oki explains how his time at the The University of Sheffield has shaped his outlook 👇
