So on point. Most of what is being promoted today is a hand-wavy marketing distraction. A digital twin isn't just "BIM in the cloud", tagging groups, analytics timeseries, or a simulator project file. Advanced digital twin standards like Quantumalliance.org are driving the industry forward towards generative autonomy, graph AI, multi-dimensional inference... as well as also describing traditional system geometry, physics, and labeling. It's key that the industry joins forces on "real" digital twin standards so that we get the intelligent interoperable future we all want.

We can't make a "digital twin" of a water molecule! You ever try to make a digital twin of a motor? Or a rotary encoder? Or a 20m long rotary encoder cable operating near the motor? All are beyond our knowledge of physics at anything but the most basic behavioral level. And even computing what we know for all the elements in, say, a robotics work cell or a (small) 2MW data center turns out to be wholly impractical. Be suspicious of claims to the contrary. Ask for a demo. Test what they show you.

CAD model is called asset twin and the process model is labelled as process twin...which is not entirely true...and together they are labelled as digital twin... which is again not entirely correct.. One has to understand the difference between steady state model, dynamic model and a process digital twin model to begin with...
