Maintaining dimensional and mechanical tolerancing of materials that get that hot is pretty amazing.

The engine, the P&W J58 (or JT11) was more than just a ramjet. It was a turboramjet and it's unique one-of-a-kind design made it much more than a simple ramjet. It needs to be given credit for this in any SR-71 discussion.

At what use to be Excello Aerospace in Michigan we use to make afterburner and fuel nozzles for the SR71 engines. Was always proud of being part of such a program!
