I am happy to share the good news that #DVB elected its new chair Remo Vogel. Gratuliere Remo! He follows Peter MacAvock, with whom we paved the way towards #DVB-I and #5G including new video codecs #NGVC. That is becoming more and more important, as energy efficiency is a key factor for effective video distribution.
We have a new chair! Please join us in wishing every success to Remo Vogel as he takes over the role of chair of the DVB Project. Remo is responsible for the strategic development of distribution technology for Rundfunk Berlin-Brandenburg – part of the ARD network of public service media organizations in Germany. He leads the award-winning German DVB-I Pilot and co-chairs both the European Broadcasting Union (EBU) TV Platforms group and the DVB-I task force within the Deutsche TV-Plattform. He's also part of ARD's Competence Center for HbbTV and Platforms. Remo takes over from Peter MacAvock, who had been DVB's chair since 2016. (Peter's DVB story, of course, started long before that – we will pay tribute to his immense contribution to the DVB Project in due course...)
