Spectrum Matters. The research is now undeniable. Here is an article on how Goldenrod leverages the Red Spectrum to determine its proximity from other plants. Now that's pretty cool. #SpectrumScience #LEDInnovation #PlantGrowthTech #AgriTechTrends

"Goldenrod can perceive other plants nearby without ever touching them, by sensing far-red light ratios reflected off leaves. When goldenrod is eaten by herbivores, it adapts its response based on whether or not another plant is nearby. Is this kind of flexible, real-time, adaptive response a sign of intelligence in plants? The question is not easy to answer, but Andre Kessler, a chemical ecologist, makes an argument for plant intelligence in a recent paper in the journal Plant Signaling and Behavior." #plants #intelligence

The perfect start to the week yesterday for our CEO. Coffee out of a Star Wars mug, then off conducting end of season soil testing. This season we will be following the nutrient pathway further to understand whether the biology is converting soil solubilisation to better quality fruit. Until then the soil trend data can provide an excellent insight into some of the performance parameters of our BioPlan. #measuremeasuremeasure #dataisking #bioplan

Every BioPlan that we start has an end point. Something that we aim for as the final goal. Otherwise you are just aimlessly buying product every year. We aim to try to get the soil to a level and balance that requires no additional biology. Just biostimulants to maintain the levels. That's a solution to look forward to. #bioplan #measuremeasuremeasure #takingthebsoutofbiology
Out with the cattle to ask them what goodies they would like with their pasture this Autumn. The biology balance on this farm is such that we only need to apply nutrients and biostimulants this year. That's exactly what we would hope for after number of years on a BioHub BioPlan. #bioplan #simplesolutions #measuremeasuremeasure

This is needed and significant research in the area of ruminants and ecological health. It's not the cow, it's the how! From the paper: When grazing animals are optimally leveraged—in the right numbers, at the right time, and in the right place—an ‘optimal grazing’ scenario is one in which ecosystem structural benefits emerge (Figure 1b) from plant ecophysiological responses (Figure 1c) that can maximize SOC outcomes. https://lnkd.in/edFNAwVW

Happy World Soil Day! We all know that soil isn't just dirt; it's a living world underground. It works with water to keep everything in balance. I didn't plan to become a soil microbiologist, but it turned out to be a cool and satisfying journey. Whether you're into science, farming or not, we can all do our bit. Use water wisely, support local initiatives for clean soil, and spread the word about why soil and water are so important. #WorldSoilDay #WorldSoilDay2023 #SoilAndWater #SimpleScience #SoilMicrobiology

Super interesting paper and a really nice follow up to Luo et al. (2023) (amongst others). Should we be thinking about mycorrhizal strategies in our management strategies? Some compelling arguments to be made!
In this paper, we show that mixing tree species having both ecto- and endo-mycorrhizal associations increases overall productivity
Mycorrhizal associations modify tree diversity−productivity relationships across experimental tree plantations
