This isn’t a political post. It’s not a comment on Trump or Conway or anything politically related. It IS interesting to watch this video and read articles about the ‘microwaves are watching you’ from only seven years ago. Which were widely considered bonkers at the time. https://lnkd.in/gKm_Wt4Y We know now from helpful but terrifying evidence from private cyber security companies in the #DFV space like the #ProtectiveGroup the almost jaw dropping range of household items, from fridges to entire cars are now being used as weapons of #abuse. I remember laughing at this #RandyRainbow video thinking, how crazy is this woman? Regardless of your political take on Conway, she’s not looking so crazy now in regards to her aversion to spying microwaves. Technology like #Neuralink in this context raises alarm bells on a level far beyond the invasive nature of household appliances. It also raises issues in the #criminaljustice space around what is and what isn’t going to be considered ‘admissable’ #evidence. What is considered a violation of our fundamental right to privacy? What if those #privacy #rights were being violated in the committing of crimes? Who draws the line between someone’s right to privacy vs someone’s right to safety? It’s still a funny video, despite Conway not being so overly paranoid. But the intersection between tech and crime, whether at a micro interpersonal level with DFV, or at a macro level with large scale hacks like the #AshleyMaddison, or telco provider #Optus, even government organisations, is only going to escalate. Then we have #socialmedia and the implications especially for our children in regards to issues like #sextortion. Or simply the dangers associated with having children’s photos/videos innocently publicly put on the internet by proud parents, images which may contain #geolocations and identifying #metadata. Not to mention the parents’ zero control over who may be looking at their children with nefarious agendas. How do we best face these #cyberthreats not only as individuals, but as a society?
