The US Navy has anchored Cochin Shipyard Limited in a Master Shipyard Repair Agreement, commencing on 5th April 2024, following the agreement to strengthen naval cooperation between India and the US at last year’s G20 summit. The US Navy’s Military Sealift Command approved the partnership upon the outcome of a comprehensive review and capability assessment on CSL. CSL has become a prominent company in the maritime sector following its significant role in the refitting work of 2 Indian Naval vessels and many other developments. Such an initiative by the US not only aims at defense cooperation but also utilizes the expertise of the Indian shipyards to improve its operational capability. Similar pacts with other Indian organizations, such as L&T and Mazagaon Dock, will help the US Navy create hubs in the Indo-Pacific region. It will subsequently provide security and establish regional stability in these currents of ever-growing competition. #usnavy #cochinshipyardlimited #g20summit #larsonandtubro #mazagondock #shiprepair #shiprepairservice

A lot seems be being made of 6 PLAN ships entering the Middle Eastern waters. They were there as part of joint exercises with Oman. Assuming these ships were part of existing forward basing arrangements the PRC has with Djibouti, this is nothing to worry about. China’s only overseas naval base (Djibouti), is surrounded by U.S. & allied bases. Worry once you start seeing PLAN carrier battle groups steaming for the Gulf from PLAN bases in China. That will show major deployment capability. The 6 PLAN ships are now part of a reconnaissance mission. They aren’t planning to fight & defeat the Americans. Or intervene as part of a ‘defence of Iran’.

#USNavy to identify which #IndoPacific shipyards it can use in wartime Up to six repair availabilities requested in countries like Japan, South Korea and India. The U.S. military will carry out maintenance work on as many as six American naval ships at international shipyards next fiscal year if approved by Congress, aiming to keep up with China's naval capacity. If the military's request is authorized later this year, it would expand the use of foreign shipyards for such work on U.S. Navy ships and lead to certifying shipyards that match U.S. standards. Positive for Cochin Shipyard and Mazagon Docks.
