Today, we're announcing our partnership with TPG and their $200M investment in Foodsmart to expand the reach of foodcare. This is about more than using food as medicine—it's about caring for the whole person and eliminating roadblocks to a healthier life. Together with TPG we’ll expand our network of virtual dietitians – already the largest in the country– and we’ll integrate our foodcare solutions into more health plans and healthcare systems, to fulfill our goal of advancing health equity with nutrition. "Chorus Community Health Plans (CCHP) saw significant savings after partnering with telenutrition company Foodsmart, according to a study released by the insurer and company on April 25,” writes Tim Casey in his latest for AIS Health, an MMIT (Managed Markets Insight & Technology) Company. Last week, we released results from our three-year partnership with CCHP, which featured the first-ever findings that foodcare lowers health plan costs for Medicaid & Marketplace members by improving food access & affordability while addressing chronic condition health outcomes. Providers, politicians, and insurers have acknowledged that foodcare and food as medicine can address chronic conditions and food insecurity at scale, yet we’ve lacked the evidence showing that these services can reduce healthcare costs for Medicaid populations – until now. We’ve partnered with Wisconsin’s Chorus Community Health Plans to evaluate the impact of our foodcare program on reducing healthcare costs, improving patient outcomes, and reducing food insecurity.
