A love letter to my fellow women in Sales. Stop doubting if what you have to offer is enough. Stop waiting your turn to speak. Stop worrying about being 'difficult'. Stop second guessing if behavior that makes you uncomfortable is worth speaking up about. Stop trying to appease insecure, egotistical people whose own insecurities cause them to belittle your strengths. Start using your voice. Start promoting the voice of other women. Start speaking up when you see someone else being treated disrespectfully (regardless of gender). Start posting and/or commenting on LinkedIn. We've all seen the stats re: women in leadership roles. There's so much work to be done there. But, you don't need a VP title to start using your voice on here, today. Best part? The impact of you using your voice on LinkedIn reaches far beyond the 4 walls of your employer. So, I’ve made a promise to myself to be more active on LinkedIn and happily so because I really do LOVE this platform… Every time I scroll through, I find something of value, and now it’s time for me to put my two cents in 💭 I recently attended a Scottish Women in Business (SWIB) event where Claire Nelson spoke on her journey and I want to share some personal takeaways that resonated with me and the journey I am on. 📌 The first is to control your inner narrative. Don’t be afraid to remove yourself from the perception other people have of you. Choose to tune into your inner dialogue and the story you are telling instead of the one others have created for you. 📌 The second is don’t be afraid of a challenge or change. When we force ourselves out of our comfort zone, we are forcing ourselves to grow and adapt to new environments and higher standards that we are setting for ourselves. 📌 The third is be brave and be bold. Be proud of who you are and what you have achieved and are aiming to achieve. Don’t let the fear of making mistakes along the way silence you. 📌 The fourth and final is take rightful ownership and praise for the work you have produced and the results you have accomplished. Confidence and arrogance are two very different things and one should not be confused with the other.
