First Responders should be a first priority. For the 6th year, Anheuser-Busch is teaming up with the National Volunteer Fire Council to deliver 1.5M+ cans of emergency drinking water to 630+ fire departments across 44 states, helping keep volunteer forces prepared to respond when disaster strikes. #ThatsWhoWeAre

In an unexpected twist, insurance claims for deer strikes dropped to 2020 lockdown levels last November. 📉 But here's the twist: November typically records more than double the yearly average for animal-strike-related claims due to the deer's active mating season. The big question: Will this trend continue or will 2023 bring a surprise spike? #InsuranceNews #DeerStrikes #2023Predictions #WildlifeEncounters

The tragic incident that destroyed the Francis Scott Key Bridge in my home state of Maryland yesterday was profoundly one of the saddest events I've witnessed in my lifetime. Every morning as I begin my day, I turn on the news to learn about what's happening locally and in the nation. Yesterday, grief-stricken tears rolled down my face while I watched in shock as the Key Bridge with cars and construction workers on it, collapsed into the Patapsco in a matter of seconds...SECONDS. It's incredibly surreal to see such an iconic structure completely collapse in a matter of seconds. On this morning's news, I watched Gov. Wes Moore as he discussed the search and rescue (now recovery) efforts, the lives lost and their families, the lives saved by our first responders, the affected jobs of 8K+ dock workers, the effects to a major travel route for more than 30K commuters, and the impact on not only Maryland's economy but the Nation's economy since Baltimore is one of the largest ports for cars, farming equipment, sugar and more. Being in the emergency management industry exposes me to many of these tragic situations, but this one really hit home because I was born in Baltimore and Maryland is my home. Hats off to Gov. Wes Moore, Aruna Miller, and Brandon M. Scott for taking the time to personally provide updates on the situation, for being boots on the ground, and for ensuring all partners and stakeholders come together quickly to forge the path toward recovery. Being a former civil engineer and now a marketing and communications professional working in the emergency management industry for Tidal Basin Group, I know the challenges that lie ahead with the rebuilding effort, but we will come back stronger than before! Governor, please call on us Marylanders and industry professionals to support whatever you need as the recovery efforts begin. #MarylandTough #BaltimoreStrong
My office is in close communication with U.S. Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg, Baltimore Mayor Brandon M. Scott, Baltimore County Executive Johnny Olszewski Jr, and the Baltimore City Fire Department as emergency personnel are on the scene following the collapse of the Francis Scott Key Bridge. I have declared a State of Emergency here in Maryland and we are working with an interagency team to quickly deploy federal resources from the Biden Administration. We are thankful for the brave men and women who are carrying out efforts to rescue those involved and pray for everyone’s safety. We will remain in close contact with federal, state, and local entities that are carrying out rescue efforts as we continue to assess and respond to this tragedy.

The impact of economic policy on market conditions often makes it difficult to discuss policy in casual conversation without incorporating the ebbs and flows of human behavior, business decisions and their impact on the economy into the discussion. Considering the recent collapse of the Key Bridge, the concept of risks and economic impact are often in the forefronts of the minds of Americans planning short and long term financial life decisions. Mass media and rapid reporting of this local news event has allowed citizens to recognize how fragile an economy can be when a non-financial economic impact event occurs and the infrastructure of economic policy and the impact it has on the global market take center stage.
