Very grateful to join this outstanding panel of Advisors. Thank you Jeremy H. Gottschalk for connecting me with Juliet Eccleston. The Shared Advisory business model is simple, the price point is affordable , and the value prop is a clear (see sharedadvisory.com to learn more):
Instead of a cumbersome commitment to the same person every month, Shared Advisory offers a lean, nimble panel of experts for anything from a 20 minute cuppa through to a couple of hours download or more.
We work directly with start-ups and scale-ups and are trusted by VC’s to help ensure a great return on investment.
Supported by a vast network of specialist consultants, we also support organisations with specialist transformational change. This could be for a platform or marketplace, or a traditional organisation looking to adopt sharing economy or marketplace principles.
Platforms and marketplaces bring unique complexities and as a result, a different level of both risk and opportunity.
Making the most of the opportunities, effectively dealing with issues and minimising risks can be the difference between two very different start-up stories.
We're here for the happy endings, whether you're starting, scaling or transforming.
We're so pleased to welcome Heather Grunkemeier to the Shared Advisory panel of Advisors.
Heather is a former product leader turned Trust & Safety professional. She led T&S strategy for Rover and is an expert in metrics definition, OKR development, storytelling, and policy work.
She joins an extraordinary team of professionals at Shared Advisory.
As we say, one Advisor or NED can't solve the 1000's of challenges a platform faces. Why have one when you could access all of these 27 extraordinary individuals? 👇

This month, Dave Byrne and I had the pleasure of hosting two workshops at the Marketplace Risk Annual Conference #MRMC24 in San Francisco. Our workshops aimed to equip attendees with tools and practical strategies, illustrated by real-world examples, to empower them to get more support for and investment in their Trust and Safety initiatives.
This effort spun off the back of a comprehensive survey that was conducted across a wide range of Trust and Safety professionals (we received responses from 43 companies). From this survey, two fundamental themes emerged as critical drivers of success:
1) Storytelling: The skill to effectively communicate your narrative to key stakeholders across the organization - including Product, Sales & Finance teams.
2) Metrics Mapping: The ability to transform Trust and Safety from a cost center into a profit center through strategic measurement and analysis.
Dave and I bring decades of collective experience in storytelling and metrics-driven narratives, honed through our backgrounds in product management, marketing, and strategic partnerships, and refined in both large and small organizational contexts.
Our mission is to empower you to foster cross-functional support and drive transformative change in your Trust and Safety initiatives. We offer half-day and full-day workshops, as well as tailored consulting support. Want to learn more? Reach out to us!
p.s. thank you Jeremy H. GottschalkMax PinnauMartina Matthews for providing us with this opportunity and everything you to do make technology a safer place for all. 🙏 And thank you Nancy Stone for being there for support.
Following off the inspiration from Aurelija Plėtienė, where she announced her upcoming MMRC presentation and associated nerves that come with stepping out of her 'comfort zone.'....I share those feelings, too, friend. 🙏
But, when things start to unfold, ya gotta roll. 🎢
Jeremy H. Gottschalk and I starting talking about this topic back in Dec. Since then, a series of activities/ideas have unfolded, a plethora of people have stepped up to help, and I'm so excited to share what we've pulled together in just under two weeks. Eek!
Thank you, Holly Hetherington and Roseann Ferrara, for helping behind the scenes on the survey and making me look like I know what I'm doing (as per usual ❤️ ). Thank you, Dave Byrne, for filling out the survey, meeting with me to unpack your answers, where our #mindmeld culminated into bringing the two workshops to life. 👨🎓 👩🎓
Thank you, Ryan Stevens, for taking the lead on the curated mentorship matching idea and helping guide people towards making the right connections. 🤝
Thank you Chelsea Hower for helping facilitate the interviews, sanity check the 'themes' as we pulled them forward, and partnering with me and Kristin Kupiec on the read-out deck. I've truly enjoyed the chats between the three of us about how to best weave-in the mental health component in a way that acknowledges the reality of our chosen profession.
Thank you to Max Pinnau and Martina (we need to connect on LinkedIn 🤷♀️ ) for driving all the comms and giving me grace when I asked for an extension on our due date of final content. 🙏
And, thank you, to the additional 20+ Marketplace Risk Advisory board members who helped drive engagement in the survey and provided peer feedback along the way.
I can't wait to see many of my T&S friends at #MMRC24 and make some new ones along the way.
Oh, and thank you Jeremy H. Gottschalk for helping me (often behind the scenes) for the past 4 (!) years. You continue to be pivotal in my journey. 🙏
Securing investment in trust & safety initiatives is HARD. And, measuring the corresponding ROI can sometimes be even MORE DIFFICULT.
If you've had this experience, you're not alone. So, we are connecting professionals with experience securing T&S investment and measuring ROI with those looking for support in this area.
If you are interested in learning more or participating, check out the survey and sign up to be matched with a T&S professional. All you have to do is complete a quick survey: https://lnkd.in/eCwMh2PX
As an added bonus, Heather Grunkemeier, Chelsea Hower and Kristin Kupiec will be presenting an Opening Session at #MRMC24 on the findings from our recent Advisory Board-led research project. Following that, Heather Grunkemeier and Dave Byrne will be leading two workshops on developing the necessary skills and toolkit to succeed at securing investment in T&S initiatives.

Today, a working group of the Marketplace Risk Advisory Board launched a survey initiative to understand how 250+ marketplaces and digital platforms secure trust and safety investment and measure the ROI.
The mission is to benchmark various approaches and create a toolkit that will help trust and safety professionals advocate for the necessary resources to protect platforms and communities.
Interested in participating? Scan the QR code or follow the link. We'll be sharing the results of our research at the 2024 Marketplace Risk Management Conference in San Francisco from May 14-16.

I've been spending this week implementing Hubspot and learning all-the-things and need to give a HUGE shoutout to their product management team. This tool is so slick in so many ways!
Using this opportunity to share a podcast I did around my various career pivots from horse training --> today in Trust and Safety. Listening to my gut, being surrounded by people I want to learn from and working on problems I think are interesting / worth solving, has landed me in a place where I get to use my skills to fight human trafficking in a way I never imagined.
Super grateful to be part of the Mission Omega team, who consists of extremely tenured folks who fight the fraudsters (that often use stolen money to fund human trafficking)....and a business that contributes the The Knoble who helps survivors on the other side.
Kudos to the team and the immense success they've had in the past 2 years - excited to be part of what's yet to come!

Our 2 Year Anniversary!! Wow - So Grateful!! 🎈 🎉 🎊 🙌
In 2022, we entered the market knowing we wanted to help the industry by deploying the best fraud fighters to solve some of the biggest fraud problems, and support The Knoble 's human crime fighting mission. 2023 surpassed our expectations, propelling us into a leading consulting service, a newly launched financial fraud training with the Association of Certified Fraud Examiners (ACFE), 21 amazing clients, and 37 fraud experts delivering 475 years of fraud expertise.
Co-Founder Ian Mitchell reflects, "Fraud management is a good business to be in, but a better business because of the clients we are helping, friends we are making, and the impact we are leaving along the way."
Co-Founder Ben Wallach adds, "Our first two years have been an exciting ride with a steep growth trajectory. I see our next two years with a continued mission driven focus on closing gaps in the fraud ecosystem with a laser focus on quality at scale, allowing for a broader impact."
We are extremely grateful for this journey we're on. Here's to all the fraud fighting to come! 🥂 🥤

I was literally talking about this same thing with a friend earlier today. I've been doing a lot of 'work' for 'free' (in the monetary sense) this year and have stayed grounded by anchoring myself in the outcomes I'm looking to achieve (learning, sense of purpose, fulfillment). I'm thankful for my background in product management that built this muscle (focusing on learning vs. winning) and all the gifts that 2023 has brought that have enabled me to avoid dipping into my savings. I'll happily to keep doing 'work' for 'free' as the gifts it keeps bringing are seemingly endless.
Thank you for sharing this Jeremy H. Gottschalk - it gave me a forcing function to share some of the thoughts that are on my mind. 🙏
This is the best career advice anyone can give or receive.
"Pick something you would do for free...and make that your career."

Super grateful for the opportunity to share some of my thoughts and experiences related to not only scaling your operations as your marketplace grows but also how to measure efficacy (and awareness!) of your policy work at the Marketplace Risk summit last week in London.
Thank you for the shoutout Colleen Beers - it was lovely to have your smiling and nodding face in the front row and appreciate the positive validation.
And, it was a pleasure to share the experience with, you Aurelija Plėtienė :)
This is a great article that includes a list of solution providers that currently leverage consortiums as part of their core product offering, the benefits of data sharing when it comes to detecting and preventing fraud (and non-fraud IRL crimes that are often connected) and the concerns around data sharing and associated recommendations for addressing them. Grateful for the opportunity to be part of this team.
