Interesting read
The CTC-RI Board of Directors enjoyed a special networking and dinner meeting in May with guest, Richard Charest, R.Ph., MBA, Secretary, RI Executive Office of Health and Human Services. President Peter Hollmann, MD introduced Secretary Charest who then addressed the Board members with remarks on how his office is working to advance primary care in Rhode Island. There was a very dynamic Q&A session afterward where members expressed a continued desire to work together in the coming year. We look forward to actively joining the Secretary in his vision to support delivery system transformation to improve health outcomes for all Rhode Islanders.

Look forward to it. With effective reduction in funding will things stagnate till after next election? I was at PCN plus event in Nottingham. Even I retired from practice 3.5 years ago it was like ground hog day. Still The key is "Relationships"!, trust (or lack of it). Lot of focus on contracts finance, leadership, teams. What was missing- was discussion on mission vision purpose. Unifying effort behind this agreed strategy with all. Population health was mentioned twice by audience member in a question. Who is doing something really different? Who is focusing on patient outcomes and satisfaction? If you get this right you could reduce demand significantly (and improve profitability). Are there solutions out there that can do more within same financial envelope with improved outcomes, reduce demand, great patient feedback, superb engagement using simple science we learned as medical students? Our non executive director Dr Edward Bosonnet is at the two day Primary Care Partnership Network (PCPN) in London. This event brings together 150 multidisciplinary leaders from across Primary Care to consider: ‘Working in silos is not an option for primary care leaders who want to build a proactive, customised, and place-based health and care system’. In this photo Paul Singer – Chief clinical information officer for Bedfordshire, Luton and Milton Keynes Integrated Care Board, Anand Rischie – Medical Director for Walsall Together, Conor Price – Managing Director, Primary Care Analytics, Agnes Kasprowicz - Programme Director at City and Hackney PCNs and Nausheen Harmeed – Clinical Partnerships Lead at Suvera deliver a panel discussion on ‘The importance of a successful Primary Care Network in delivering population health’. We look forward to sharing some of Ed’s insights and reflections after the event.

People: Compass Executives, a strategic partner of European Healthcare Investor Association (E.H.I.A.), recently held a roundtable with Chief People Officers ("CPOs") from across private equity backed health and care markets. With inflation and recruitment (and more importantly retention) challenges, people are an even more critical asset for providers, and as a result the role of CPO has evolved, and been elevated. They are now firmly in the C-suite, alongside the CEO, CFO, COO and others. People are mission critical in health and social care; culture is a key competitive advantage and today’s CPO is more instrumental than ever in developing company strategy and jointly owning and delivering the broader commercial agenda. #people #humancapital #recruitment Compass Recruitment Solutions (CRS) David Sayers HealthInvestor LaingBuisson CareMarkets UK HealthcareMarkets UK Healthcare Markets international Genevieve Glover Barchester Healthcare Sharon Benson Lloyd's Homecare Service LLC AURELIUS Liz Jewitt-Cross (FCIPD) Jane Smith Kisimul Group Limited Antin Infrastructure Partners Jayne Stutt Priory Waterland Private Equity James Dickens sk:n TriSpan Judith Lyons Chartered FCIPD City & County Healthcare Group Summit Partners Steve Carpenter Sam L. We are so proud to share that the South Florida Anchor Alliance has been featured in Activating Place-based Partnerships for Equitable Economic Development: A Playbook for Anchor Collaboratives. According to David Zuckerman, President & Founder of the Healthcare Anchor Network (HAN), “When I started in this work more than a decade ago, the phrase anchor collaborative did not exist. The idea that individual anchor institutions should intentionally leverage all of their assets—including their hiring, purchasing, investing, real estate, and voice—in concerted partnership with their peers and the community to improve economic mobility and build community wealth was not part of the conversation. Fast forward to today, and this idea has taken root in cities across the country.” The South Florida Anchor Alliance, a collaboration of 20 of the largest organizations and municipalities in South Florida, is one such example of an anchor collaborative that is intentionally leveraging all of their assets to improve economic mobility. Health Foundation Chief Strategy Officer, Janisse Schoepp, contributed to the playbook and served as a reviewer. She shares, “The importance of this Playbook is that it highlights national models of anchor collaboratives and disseminates lessons learned for other groups thinking about establishing their own anchor collaborative in their community. To be highlighted as one of the models nationally is very exciting and important in advancing the understanding of an emerging and promising approach to addressing social determinants of health and creating healthier communities.” We applaud the Healthcare Anchor Network for their work on the playbook and thank Janisse for her contributions to the effort. #SouthFloridaAnchorAlliance, #SFAARegionalMarketplace, #HealthFoundationSouthFlorida, #HealthcareAnchorNetwork

Honored to connect with hospital leadership, thought leaders, and innovators who tirelessly support healthcare professionals and their teams at Minnesota Hospital Association’s leadership conference. At Associated Healthcare Credit Union, our legacy spans 71 years of partnering with hospitals, systems, and other heathcare employers to enhance the financial well-being of their team members. We understand their vital role and are committed to supporting them. In just two days, I've gained an even deeper understanding of the challenges hospitals face and the need for our complimentary financial well-being resources to lift financial stress from healthcare heroes. I am also inspired by the hospitals commitment to supporting all team members. Whether it’s through exploring AI to allow clinicians to focus on patients, or ways to share appreciation, it’s heartwarming to see the empathy and commitment hospitals have for their employees. The timing of this conference is outstanding, especially since my role with AHCU expanded earlier this month. Please let me know if you know of a healthcare employer interested in learning more. It's both a professional and personal mission to help employers provide free benefits to improve productivity, show appreciation, and increase the financial well-being of healthcare professionals and their families. Let's ensure the financial wellbeing of those who care for us all. Please share your thoughts on how we can help hospitals and their teams. It takes a village! To get us started, consider thanking a hospital leader for their dedication. They have a lot on their plates. Appreciation goes a long way. #Healthcare #FinancialWellbeing #Hospitals

We're excited to share that our CEO, Ella Gudwin, has joined the Board of the International Agency for the Prevention of Blindness (IAPB). With over two decades of experience in global health strategies, Ella will contribute her expertise in international development and eye health to support IAPB's mission of making eye care accessible and affordable for all. IAPB is the overarching alliance for the global eye health sector, with more than 200 organizations in 100+ countries working together for a world where everyone has universal access to eye care. VisionSpring's organizational growth has been in tandem with achievements in the eye health sector, led by the work of the IAPB. In just the past few years, the United Nations has passed their first-ever resolution to eye health, the World Health Organization has committed to firm targets for eyeglasses and cataract coverage, and the UN has added eye health into their declaration on Universal Health Coverage. These remarkable advancements in our sector are a reminder that, "If you want to go fast, go alone; if you want to go far, go together." Ella's appointment to the IAPB Board comes at the same time that VisionSpring has upgraded our membership of the global alliance to a Band A Member, reaffirmed our commitment to the IAPB. We are excited about the journey ahead and the continued progress on solving the issue of uncorrected blurry vision. #SocialImpact #SocialEntrepreneurship #Vision #Leadership #Health

I recently stepped off the governing Board of a 50+ year old private hospital after six years (2018-2023) chairing both the Clinical Governance Committee and in my last four years, the Board itself. Reflecting, i teased out six points for each year of service. 1. Leadership is in the moment. Challenges of the times always require that someone responds to the call to lead. Will you respond to the call to lead a compelling vision or will you rather sit it out? 2. Harness and maximize the full strengths and talents of the team. This will prevent the leader from the burden of feeling he/she alone must have all the solutions. Create a nurturing and productive environment and you will be amazed by what the team can accomplish. 3. We are simply performing roles and it is important to be appreciative of everyone’s gifts, talents and contributions to the team. We do this in the humility that our positions are an opportunity and a blessing to serve and not that the positions per se confer the greatest wisdom on us or that others in the team are unable to shine if given our roles. 4. Take responsibility for the good times as well as the challenging times. Avoid the fundamental attribution error where the good is attributable to your wisdom and efforts, but the bad is a reflection of the failings of the others including the external environment. Learn the applicable lessons, whether the outcomes are good or bad and keep things moving. 5. Opportunities always exist to continuously hone your skills and grow your knowledge. And you have a responsibility to plan your professional and personal development. You are not too old, experienced or knowledgeable to grow. 6. It is important to master the art of balancing short-term needs with longer term strategic goals. The real needs and lawful demands of team members should not simply all be sacrificed on the altar of a promise of a better future. If need be, and the present must be sacrificed for the future, then carve a stake in that future for those sacrificing today. sodzitettey@gmail.com
