So I took this photograph about 2 years ago when I delved into the practice of #occupationalhealthmedicine with the aim of finding a niche in a place where many doctors have not really found interest in our environment. It is almost becoming a norm for doctors to sit in hospitals and clinics attending to patients as against managing a population by policies, procedures and protocols. First challenging but over time, I stabilized and it has been a home for me in the mean time. My discoveries? Mind blowing. I also saw that there are a whole lot that we are yet to do as medical practitioners in this field. Have you experienced occupational healthcare practice? What was it like? Do you think more doctors need to switch towards identifying what they can offer in this field? Where can we start? #occupationalhealthmedicine #Emergencymedicine #Preventivemedicine #HealthSafetyandenvironment

Experienced & doctorally educated PA with a strong internal medicine background that firmly fights for healthcare equity.
In #urgentcare medicine proper medical documentation is extremely important as clinicians change from day to day. Though in general, the care provided at UC centers is episodic, continuity may need to occur with occupational health visits, moderate severity injuries, and the routine “not getting better” visits. If your colleague has absolutely no idea what care you provided, how can we expect our patients to know what’s next? Stop using time constraints as an excuse for #poorcharting. Learn your #EMR tricks and take advantage of templates and dot phrases. #Charting effectively is better for you, your patients, and your coworkers.

𝐆𝐚𝐫𝐝𝐞𝐧 𝐛𝐲 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐛𝐞𝐝: 𝐁𝐫𝐢𝐧𝐠𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐧𝐚𝐭𝐮𝐫𝐞 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐡𝐞𝐚𝐥𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐭𝐨 𝐡𝐨𝐬𝐩𝐢𝐭𝐚𝐥 𝐩𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐬 An initiative at Khoo Teck Puat Hospital "Garden by the Bed"(GBTB) shows the healing power of nature when integrated into healthcare. Spearheaded by Senior Occupational Therapist Giang Thuy Anh and her team, GBTB breathes fresh life into patient care. What stands out is the psychological and emotional resonance such an initiative can foster. Simple interactions like touching soil, smelling leaves plant seeds of hope and renewal in the hearts of those it touches. Scent and touch are potent senses capable of evoking memories and emotions that soothes and uplifts. Moreover, the mere act of caring for a plant provides a tangible connection to the outside world and restore a sense of normalcy that illness often strips away. When patients see the direct results of their care - plants growing and thriving, they experience a sense of purpose and agency at a time when their physical and emotional capacities may be challenged. It is heartening to see that such a low-cost high-impact intervention can dramatically improve patient experiences and outcomes. More than that, this initiative calls for healthcare providers to reimagine patient care, making it more humane and holistic.
