🚨 New ACTION publication 🚨 Using data from the ACTION registry, authors reviewed outcomes for patients who received Impella pumps alongside VA-ECMO from 2014 to 2021. The results? Out of 20 patients, 45% recovered, 40% moved to durable VADs, and 5% got heart transplants. These findings suggest Impella support could be vital for older pediatric patients to help their hearts recover or prepare for the next steps in treatment. 📰 Research being delivered at Manchester University NHS Foundation Trust has shown that self-management of a pessary for pelvic organ prolapse could benefit thousands of women and save the NHS more than £560 per patient. Fifty women attending clinics at Saint Mary's Hospital and Withington Hospital, participated in the research which compared self-management of a vaginal pessary for pelvic organ prolapse, to hospital clinic care. The TOPSY study, delivered at MFT by co-Chief Investigator, Dr Rohna Kearney, Consultant Urogynaecologist, Saint Mary's Hospital, said: “We see approximately 1,200 new patients each year for prolapse symptoms and 750 women attend our nurse-led pessary clinic at MFT each year. Research is ongoing to look at longer term outcomes and more research is needed into how self-management can be made routine practice.” 👇 https://lnkd.in/exWEPXfn
