Energy investment in the Middle East is projected to reach approximately $175 billion in 2024, with clean resources accounting for around 15 percent of the total, a new report from IEA disclosed. The International Energy Agency’s analysis highlighted that clean energy investment in the announced pledges scenario is expected to more than triple by 2030 compared to 2024. The report indicated that by the end of the decade, every dollar invested in fossil fuels in this scenario would be matched by 70 cents going to clean energy. Five of the 12 countries in the region have set net zero emission targets. The UAE and Oman aim to achieve net zero emissions by 2050, while Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, and Kuwait have set a target for 2060.

Egypt looking to raise target for renewable energy to 58% by 2040 Egypt is looking to raise its target for the renewable share of energy generation to 58% by 2040 in an updated strategy for expanding green power, Electricity Minister Mohamed Shaker said on Saturday. Shaker told an Egypt-EU investment conference that the government hoped to publish the new strategy in the next two to three months. Egypt previously had a target to generate 42% of its power through renewables by 2030. By Reuters June 29, 2024 Is this ratio is realistic and we have ability to achieve this target and what's the sitution for existing fossil fuel power plant? Are we need to connect this green energy to green cooridor( separate network) or will connect it with the existing network ? What is The value $ needed to invest in the new green corridor? We really need to answer this questions looking to the future of Egypt energy. #sustaianbility #energytransation #renewableenergy #netzero2050 #egypt2040

Interesting news from Abu Dhabi! International Renewable Energy Agency (IRENA) just released the Renewable Capacity Statistics 2024, revealing that renewables accounted for 86% of new additions in 2023. However, this growth is unevenly distributed, with Africa lagging behind regions like the Middle East, China, and Europe. Urgent policy interventions are needed to overcome barriers and create local value in developing economies. Massive financing and international collaboration are essential to accelerate the energy transition. But are politicians and policy makers really listening? #RenewableEnergy #Sustainability #IRENA #UAE #MENA https://lnkd.in/dMgCfD3f

The International Energy Agency (IEA) has released its 2024 report on Electricity highlighting that per capita electricity use in Africa has remained largely unchanged for over 30 years and has even shown a slight decline recently. The indication we are getting is that the growth in electricity supply is not keeping pace with the continent's rapid population increase. Although the overall electricity supply is increasing, it's not doing so fast enough to keep up with the rapid population growth, leading to a decrease in electricity consumption per person. But looking ahead, the report anticipates that a greater reliance on renewable energy is expected to contribute significantly to meeting the continent's future electricity demand, with a smaller role for natural gas. According to the International Energy Agency (IEA), the three important guiding principles for the clean energy transition are: energy security, affordability, and sustainable economic growth. Sub-Saharan Africa’s (SSA) energy security is hampered by insufficiency and unaffordability. The existing electrical grid capacity is unable to meet current commercial demand and the high user-end-cost of renewable mini-grids threatens the competitive production of goods and services in the region, writes Oluleke O. Babayomi. Read the full blog 👉https://ow.ly/HsuI50PUHbB
